On April 22, the Institute of Graduate Studies at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized an online workshop titled “Application of NVivo Software in Literature Review and Qualitative Data Analysis” to support graduate students and doctoral candidates in enhancing their knowledge of NVivo as a research tool.
The program featured Dr. Trần Anh Thông, Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne (Australia), as the keynote speaker.
Representatives from HUTECH attending the event included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Cao Cuong – Vice President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Nguyen – Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thai Van Nam – Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies; Dr. Le Ngo Ngoc Thu – Vice Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Tu – Dean of the Faculty of Marketing and International Business; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quyet Thang – Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management; Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Thu – Dean of the Faculty of English; Dr. Tran Thi Trang – Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, along with faculty members from various departments and institutes across the university.

The workshop was conducted online via Zoom
During the session, Dr. Tran Anh Thong shared key insights on using NVivo software for literature review and qualitative data analysis. He emphasized that NVivo is a powerful tool widely used in research for analyzing text, audio, image, and video data. NVivo helps users categorize data efficiently, enabling the development of models and analyses that lead to deeper understanding of research issues. In particular, for qualitative data analysis, NVivo offers robust tools for identifying patterns, trends, and relationships within data, helping researchers draw meaningful conclusions and insights.
The workshop provided valuable knowledge on NVivo as a tool that supports users in the research analysis process
It is believed that the “Application of NVivo Software in Literature Review and Qualitative Data Analysis” workshop has equipped HUTECH graduate students and doctoral candidates with practical knowledge and effective methods for using NVivo, thereby enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of their research projects.
