HUTECH Student Wins Runner-up Title in “Best Poultry Challenge – Season 2”

With their unique culinary creativity in preparing dishes using U.S. chicken, two students from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), outstandingly secured the Runner-up title at the “Best Poultry Challenge – Season 2”, recently held in Da Nang.

Tourism and Hospitality students earn Runner-up title in culinary competition
 

With the theme “Regional Cuisine with U.S. Chicken”, 12 teams from universities and training institutions across the country researched and prepared two dishes—an appetizer and a main course, both featuring U.S. chicken as the main ingredient. All entries were beautifully presented with refined flavors, reflecting the meticulous preparation and creativity of the contestants. The dishes showcased a rich variety of flavors—familiar yet refreshingly innovative and unique.

After 75 minutes of preparation and presentation, Cao Thi Kim Lanh and Nguyen Vinh Ngon, students from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management – HUTECH, impressively earned the Runner-up title with two highly creative dishes:

  • U.S. Chicken Salad with Cashew Lime Dressing and Pickled Vegetables
  • Crispy Coconut-Fried U.S. Chicken Rolls with Wild Mushroom Filling, served with Pumpkin Flan, Pickled Vegetables, and Cilantro Sauce.

After 75 minutes in the kitchen, the two signature dishes made their grand debut!
 
It is noteworthy that Vinh Ngon and Kim Lanh had previously won Third Prize in the “HUTECH Young Chefs 2024 – Wonderful Flavors from U.S. Potatoes” competition held at HUTECH.

“Best Poultry Challenge – Season 2” is a competition organized by the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council, in collaboration with the Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council. The competition aims to create a valuable platform where culinary students across Vietnam can showcase their creativity and passion for cooking. It also serves as a great opportunity for students to explore and learn more about U.S. chicken, thereby enhancing their knowledge and professional skills in the culinary field.

Serving as judges for the competition were leading culinary experts, including:
  • Chef Norbert Ehrbar – World Master Chef
  • Chef Lê Xuân Tâm – President of the World Master Chefs Society in Vietnam and Executive Chef of the Moo Beak Steak chain in Southern Vietnam
  • Chef Doãn Văn Tuấn – Executive Chef of Furama Resort, Da Nang
  • Chef Trương Vĩnh Cơ – Executive Chef of Pan Pacific Hanoi
