In Can Gio – a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve known for its distinctive mangrove forest ecosystem – students explored community-based tourism models, visited nature conservation areas, and studied socio-economic development strategies linked to environmental protection. The on-site survey and direct interaction with local residents enabled them to identify key factors that impact the sustainability of a tourism destination.
The trip also took students to several notable sites, including Monkey Island, Sac Forest, Lang Ong Thuy Tuong (Whale Temple), Can Gio Market, and Hang Duong Market. At each destination, students not only explored the natural landscapes and local culture but also observed and analyzed real-world issues related to resource management, cultural heritage preservation, and livelihood support for local communities.

Students practicing real-world assessment skills by connecting academic knowledge with local contexts
Through this journey, students honed their practical evaluation skills and learned to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life situations in the local context. They also gained a clearer understanding of the relationship between their academic field, the natural environment, and community life. This valuable experience helps broaden their mindset, shape a comprehensive and sustainable approach to professional knowledge, and lay a solid foundation for their future academic and career development.
