16 students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) have just completed an exciting month of study as part of the International Semester Program at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Sarawak State, Borneo Island, Malaysia. The program took place from July 7 to August 3, offering students diverse academic exposure, cultural exploration, and international friendship.
This is an annual academic program organized by HUTECH’s Department of International Relations and Project Management in collaboration with UNIMAS Business School. It aims to provide students with opportunities to experience global learning environments, earn academic credits, and broaden their international outlook.
16 HUTECH students completed a month of enriching academic experiences in Malaysia
Under the LinguaSmart Mobility Program, HUTECH students participated in two outstanding modules: English for Academic and Everyday Communication and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In the English for Academic and Everyday Communication module, students developed comprehensive skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, along with language use tailored for both academic and daily life communication. Through a flexible teaching approach combining theory and practice inside and outside the classroom, students significantly improved their English proficiency and confidence in international settings.
Meanwhile, the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) module provided students with foundational knowledge of AI, including its concepts, real-world applications, and current development trends. The course not only built professional competence but also fostered innovation, digital thinking, and adaptability to the rapidly changing technological era.
Students gained valuable academic knowledge through the modules
In addition to acquiring academic knowledge, the 16 participating students may be eligible for credit transfer for the two respective modules within HUTECH's official academic curriculum. This helps reduce their total study time and affirms the value of international academic experience in their personal and professional development.
Beyond classroom learning, students also engaged in vibrant cultural and social activities such as visiting the Sarawak Cultural Village, Mount Santubong, Borneo Culture Museum, kayaking on campus, and exploring Kuching city, a location known for its blend of traditional and modern cultures. These experiences provided students with insights into local culture, expanded their worldview, and enhanced international connections.
Cultural tours and hands-on experiences helped students strengthen their global integration mindset
At the end of the semester, students not only acquired academic knowledge but also developed intercultural communication skills, global thinking, and adaptability to international environments. It was also an opportunity to build international friendships and showcase HUTECH students as dynamic, confident, and globally ready individuals.
