The opening ceremony of the 34th Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad, the first Vietnam Student Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, Procon Vietnam and the ICPC Asia HCMC 2025 took place this morning, December 10, in a formal and celebratory atmosphere.
Returning to HUTECH as the host university after 17 years, this prestigious series of competitions is held over five consecutive days from December 8 to 12, 2025. It is co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Association for Information Processing, the Vietnam National Union of Students and HUTECH. The event is supported by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

A gathering that brings together outstanding young technology talents from Vietnam and abroad
For more than three decades, OLP’25, OlpAI’25, Procon’25 and ICPC Asia HCMC 2025 have grown into one of the most respected academic arenas for students in information technology and artificial intelligence. These competitions have served as a launching pad for thousands of young tech talents who now hold key roles in major technology corporations and contribute directly to Vietnam’s digital transformation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Distinguished Teacher Dr. Ho Si Dam, Chair of the Olympiad Board of Judges, emphasized that the exam questions are designed to uphold precision, scientific rigor and transparency. He noted that integrity and objectivity remain defining traditions of the competition, reinforcing its prestige as a premier academic contest for students in the technology field.

Representing the host institution, Prof. Dr. Sc. Ho Dac Loc, President of HUTECH, shared that HUTECH is honored to be entrusted by the Organizing Committee to host this year’s event. He commended the close coordination of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing and the dedicated support from the judges, lecturers, coaches, contestants and volunteers. He wished all contestants success in their challenges and expressed his hope that the judges would identify the most outstanding representatives of Vietnam’s informatics community.

OLP’25 features both individual and team events in the Super Cup, Informatics Major, Non-Informatics Major, College Level and Open-Source Software categories. All categories begin in the afternoon of the same day and continue on Thursday, December 11. At the same time, contestants participating in the Procon head-to-head competition will also compete on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the first Vietnam Student Artificial Intelligence Olympiad held its final round on December 9. As part of today’s opening ceremony of OLP’25, OlpAI’25, Procon’25 and ICPC Asia HCMC 2025, the OlpAI’25 Organizing Committee presented awards to top-performing teams from the national round and the regional rounds in the North, Central and South. The national championship title of this inaugural season was awarded to the University of Science and Technology – the University of Da Nang. The HUTECH team earned third place in the Southern region.

In addition, the Organizing Committee presented awards for the national round of the ICPC 2025. The championship title was claimed by the University of Science under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The opening ceremony for ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City 2025 will take place on Thursday afternoon, December 11, with official competition scheduled for Friday, December 12.
