At the age of 31, the development journey of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) is measured not only by time, but also shaped by its clear progress on the global higher education map.

After 31 years of development, HUTECH steadily establishes its position on the global education map
HUTECH marked a significant milestone by making its debut in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, ranking 287th in Asia and 6th in Vietnam. At the subject level, the University further expanded its presence with three disciplines ranked in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. Specifically, Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism reached the top 151 to 175 globally; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering was placed in the top 501 to 575; and Computer Science and Information Systems ranked in the top 651 to 700 worldwide.
The University also continues its presence in the second cycle of the QS Stars system, achieving a 4-Star rating from Quacquarelli Symonds. This recognition reflects how the University maintains and operates its quality standards in a sustainable manner, with several criteria rated at 5 Stars, including facilities, teaching, employability, diversity, equity and inclusion. These achievements reinforce a comprehensive quality foundation aligned with QS’s rigorous and holistic evaluation standards.

The University continues its journey toward new milestones on international rankings
From another perspective on knowledge dissemination, HUTECH continues to affirm its position in the Webometrics Ranking in January 2025, published by the Spanish National Research Council, ranking 11th among 124 leading universities in Vietnam. Globally, the University is placed 2302nd out of 31,364 higher education institutions, positioning it within the top 10 percent worldwide.
Beyond education, HUTECH’s research capacity is also clearly recognized in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, where the University rose to 4th place among 68 universities and research institutions in Vietnam, climbing seven positions compared to the previous year.
According to the University Ranking by Academic Performance, HUTECH ranks 8th among 22 universities with the strongest academic performance in Vietnam and 1620th globally, further strengthening its position among institutions with notable research capabilities.

In the Best Global Universities 2024 to 2025 rankings published by U.S. News and World Report, the University is ranked 314th globally in Engineering and 687th in Computer Science. Notably, in Engineering, HUTECH achieved an overall score of 53.6, ranking first worldwide in the proportion of publications among the top 10 percent most cited, and within the top five globally in normalized citation impact.
