31/10/2025
Entrepreneurship is more than a trend; it defines the mindset of today’s generation.
With a desire to support students in turning their ideas into reality, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has partnered with Saigon Asset Management (SAM) to launch the “Startup and Fundraising Strategy” initiative, officially introduced through a strategic cooperation signing ceremony held on October 30.

The “Startup and Fundraising Strategy” is considered one of HUTECH’s in-depth training initiatives designed under the Mentor - Practice - Connection model. Instead of focusing only on theory, the initiative equips students with practical entrepreneurial thinking, business strategy development, and fundraising and financial management skills under the direct guidance of international experts, mentors, and investors.
A highlight of the initiative is its hands-on approach. Students not only learn how to generate ideas but also receive comprehensive training in turning ideas into reality, from market research, identifying competitive advantages, and product positioning to mastering investor pitching skills and business model commercialization.

In addition, this initiative connects academia with industry, helping young people develop a founder’s mindset, understand how cash flow works, and gradually build a strong personal financial foundation, which is an essential asset for any future career path.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice President of HUTECH, encouraged the students: “I hope you use this opportunity not only to build new skills but also to spark your entrepreneurial spirit. Be willing to dream, take the first step, and push your own limits. Don’t just come here to learn; take action. The future belongs to those who are ready to move forward and create change.”

The event gathered numerous experts, investors, university leaders, and lecturers
As part of the initiative, Mr. Louis Nguyen, Chairman and CEO of Saigon Asset Management (SAM), shared valuable insights with HUTECH students during the session “Dialogue with the CEO - Awakening the Entrepreneurial Spirit.”
With over 25 years of investment and management experience in Vietnam and the United States, Mr. Louis Nguyen emphasized that Vietnamese youth must move beyond a passive mindset, step out of their comfort zones, and actively seek opportunities for self-development. He noted that entrepreneurship does not necessarily mean starting a company but first adopting an entrepreneurial mindset, one that involves identifying problems, taking responsibility, and continuously innovating to create value for society.

He stressed that young people should learn to think like founders, even when working in companies or large corporations. “If you always see yourself as an executor, you will stay at that level. But if you think like a founder, recognizing problems, looking for improvements, and creating value, you will continue to move forward,” he shared.
His insights offered practical knowledge to help students grow with confidence
According to Mr. Louis Nguyen, in today’s global economy, students need financial literacy, fundraising skills, and an understanding of cash flow, as these are the foundations of all business activities. Knowing how money moves within a company helps young people create, sustain, and grow long-term value, whether they become entrepreneurs or employees in large organizations.
Students confidently interacted with him and discussed their startup ambitions
He also encouraged students to boldly turn ideas into products, step out of their comfort zones, and engage directly with investors. “Do not fear failure, because it is an essential part of the learning process. The more you stumble, the better you understand your path, and the closer you get to real success,” he encouraged.
The initiative helps young people develop the mindset and resilience of founders
Mr. Louis Nguyen left students with a powerful message: keep learning continuously, both inside and outside the classroom; build resilience, broaden your perspective, and maintain a creator’s mindset. Whether you choose to start a business or work within an organization, the most important thing is to keep growing and improving yourself to become a positive force in the community.
