HUTECH leader appointed Distinguished Professor at Open University Malaysia

On May 11, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of the University Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), was appointed Distinguished Professor in Mechanical and Material Engineering under the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences at Open University Malaysia.
The appointment recognizes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam’s professional expertise, academic reputation, and contributions to education, scientific research, university administration, as well as the promotion of international cooperation in engineering and technology.
In his role as Distinguished Professor at OUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam will participate in teaching, research, curriculum development, the design of academic modules and learning materials, and postgraduate thesis supervision. He will also contribute to proposing laboratory and teaching equipment, developing engineering disciplines, and strengthening connections between the university, industry partners, and the international academic community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam earned his PhD from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and completed his postdoctoral research at University of Groningen (Netherlands). His specialized research focuses on carbon materials and carbon-based nanocomposites.
He has many years of experience in teaching, research, and higher education management, and was recognized as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering by the State Council for Professorship in 2010.
In research activities, he has authored numerous international publications, the majority of which are indexed in Q1 journals under the Web of Science database, along with several scholarly book chapters. He has also presented at 18 prestigious international scientific conferences in the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and various European countries.

At HUTECH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam previously served as Vice President and currently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the University Board of Directors. In his leadership roles, he has made significant contributions to academic affairs, scientific research, faculty development, the expansion of international partnerships, and the strengthening of academic connections between HUTECH and universities, research institutes, and enterprises both in Vietnam and abroad.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam’s appointment as Distinguished Professor at OUM further affirms the academic reputation and professional standing of HUTECH’s faculty members and researchers within the international academic community. It also serves as a foundation for the University to continue expanding cooperation in education, research, academic exchange, and the development of international initiatives in the years ahead.
