More postgraduate study options, opportunities to experience an international learning environment, and stronger industry connections were among the key topics discussed at a meeting between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and the University of Western Australia (UWA) on September 22.
At the meeting, the UWA representative provided an overview of the university’s academic strengths and international engagement priorities.
Representing UWA was Ms. Hannah Vu, Global Engagement Manager, Vietnam, Thailand & Northeast Asia
Building on the academic strengths of both universities, HUTECH and UWA focused their discussions on flexible study pathways that could provide more options for students seeking to pursue advanced degrees. Among these was a 1+1 Master’s pathway, which was discussed as a potential way to connect the two universities’ master’s programs and offer students the opportunity to experience an international academic environment as part of their studies.

The two universities also discussed a 3+1+1 Bachelor’s and Master’s pathway designed to connect undergraduate and postgraduate study. This pathway could provide an additional option for students planning to pursue an advanced degree while allowing them to build a strong academic foundation and develop a long-term study plan from their undergraduate years.

In terms of international experiences, the two universities discussed opportunities such as student exchanges, academic exchange activities, and short-term programs. These activities would give students opportunities to strengthen their language skills, adapt to multicultural environments, and build connections with international peers while pursuing their studies.
