Signing Ceremony between HUTECH and Intercontinental Asiana Sai Gon Hotel.

On 27^th May, 2016, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Intercontinental Asiana Saigon Hotel (part of the InterContinental Hotels Group corporation PLC - IHG) has successfully signed a collaboration agreement to organize a Business semester for HUTECH students from the faculty of Tourism Service- Hospitality Management. The signing ceremony took place at B02.09 auditorium – HUTECH main campus.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Kieu Tuan – Chairman of HUTECH, Prof. Dr. Ho Dac Loc - President, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang Viet – Vice President, Dr. Nguyen Quyet Thang – Dean of Tourism Service- Hospitality Management Faculty , and MA. Luong Van Khiem - Deputy Director of the Center for Business Relation. From Intercontinental Asiana Saigon hotel, there were Mr. Suri Jitjang - Director, Ms. Doan Tran Phuong Thao – Head of Human Resources.

At the meeting, Ms. Doan Tran Phuong Thao - HR Manager of Intercontinental Asiana Saigon hotel directly introduced to HUTECH students the stages of development, the hotel’s principle of operation and the procedures of internship with the hotel for HUTECH students. On this occasion, the IHG Academic program - program to develop customer service skills and practical profession skills in order to promote economic growth of the IHG Group - has also been introduced to the students.

IHG Academy program is also the noteworthy content of the meeting.

Particularly, business semester program is implemented with the aim of giving HUTECH students of Tourism Service- Hospitality Management Faculty, the practical experience at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon hotel. During the program, the students not only have the opportunities to apply the theoretical knowledge learned from school into practice but they are also enriched with other important skills and experiences to able to meet the employers’ demands after graduating. Every year, Tourism Service- Hospitality Management Faculty will send their students to attend the business semester lasting 4 months there for the departments: Restaurant, Kitchen, accommodation, Lobby, etc. After the internship, students showing good capabilities and competence will be employed in accordance with demand in reality. Throughout the course of the internship, students are said to be entitled to many favorable policies at where they are interning.
Shortly after the presentation of the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon representatives, the two parties signed collaboration legislation.

The signing ceremony concluded successfully with the direct dialogue between HUTECH students and Intercontinental Asiana Saigon representatives.

According to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang Viet - HUTECH President: "Internship for students in other countries is no longer a new issue, however, in Vietnam, this matter really needs to be further promoted. Since its establishment until now, HUTECH has always been focusing on connecting Businesses & Universities as well as Businesses & Students in order to increase the quality of teaching and learning, create sources of internships, jobs for students thereby actively co-operating with enterprises to train high quality work forces to meet the demands of our society. This step forward that leads to the collaboration signing between HUTECH and Intercontinental Asiana Saigon Hotel will open up more opportunities for learning and training for students. Hopefully, in the future we will continue to further expand the areas of cooperation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Suri Jitjang confirmed: "Business Semester at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon is what the HUTECH students expect to train themselves, approach employment opportunities and make contributions to the growth of the corporation”.
Reportedly, besides Intercontinental Asiana Saigon, many HUTECH students of the Faculty of Tourism Service and Hospitality Management are also actively experiencing their internship in the system of prestigious hotels and restaurants in HCM City like Majestic, Sheraton, Renaissance, White Palace, Dong Phuong Group, etc. With good training quality, modern learning environment and especially the school leadership’s attention to the securing of internships, source of jobs for students, we can see that HUTECH students are currently benefiting from the most favorable conditions to comprehensively develop themselves and ready for the integration.
