To help Hotel Management students gain deeper insights into their future careers, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized a Career Talk & Housekeeping Seminar on April 22. The event provided students with opportunities to connect with industry representatives, explore real-world work environments, and shape their career paths accordingly.
Joining the students at the event were Mr. Chanh Tran - Director of Services at Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera, Mr. Tran Duc - Executive Housekeeper at JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon, Ms. Thanh Nguyen - Housekeeping Manager at Le Meridien Saigon, and other representatives from Marriott International.

The program began with an overview of Marriott International - one of the world’s largest luxury hotel chains, covering its global operations, diverse hotel portfolio, and core values such as professionalism, respect for people, collaboration, and sustainable development. The representatives also discussed future growth strategies, emphasizing the importance of human resources and innovation in hotel operations.

Ms. Thanh Nguyen provided students with a deeper understanding of the housekeeping department’s pivotal role in ensuring service quality and enhancing guest satisfaction. She emphasized essential skills and qualities, including diligence, honesty, teamwork, time management, and attention to detail. Additionally, she shared competency evaluation criteria and career progression opportunities in this field.

Following the presentation, Mr. Chanh Tran shared practical perspectives on challenges in the hospitality sector, including language barriers, workplace pressures in international environments, and the need for strong adaptability, communication skills, and a positive work attitude. He emphasized that while the job is demanding, passion and dedication can lead to long-term success. He also encouraged students to develop soft skills, communication abilities, responsibility, and a growth mindset to overcome challenges and advance their careers.

Alongside career development pathways, he highlighted challenges facing housekeeping amid technological advancements reshaping traditional operations. Mr. Đức stressed the importance of language proficiency, tech skills, and adaptability in the fast-evolving digital era.
