On the afternoon of May 31, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held the Opening Ceremony for the Doctoral and Master's Programs – 2025 Intake (1st Phase), marking an important milestone in the academic journey of many new doctoral candidates and graduate students.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien – Vice President of HUTECH – extended his congratulations to the new doctoral candidates and graduate students, while also offering words of encouragement for the journey ahead: “In the era of booming artificial intelligence and constantly evolving knowledge, businesses no longer seek individuals who simply meet basic competencies. The opening ceremony was also an occasion to honor outstanding new doctoral candidates who achieved the highest entrance scores in the 2025 Doctoral Program – Phase 1. The top scorers included: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (Electrical Engineering), Vo Minh Tien (Business Administration), and Bui Manh Toan (Information Technology). Representatives of the University presented certificates of merit, flowers, and awards to encourage and recognize their academic and research excellence.

Top 3 Outstanding Doctoral Candidates – Valedictorians of the 2025 (1st Intake) PhD Admission
At the same time, the University also officially assigned research topics to newly admitted PhD candidates in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, and Information Technology. Assigning research topics right from the opening day demonstrates HUTECH’s professionalism and clear orientation in postgraduate education. This approach helps doctoral candidates define their research goals, methodology, and roadmap from the outset, thereby enhancing the quality of their dissertations and making practical contributions to both their respective fields and society.

In addition to the Doctoral program, HUTECH also awarded academic encouragement scholarships to outstanding new Master's students. These recipients are exceptional alumni who previously graduated from HUTECH and have chosen to return to further their education. In this round, 6 students received 50% full-course scholarships and 8 students received 40% scholarships, spanning various fields such as Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Tourism and Hospitality, Information Technology, Accounting, and Veterinary Medicine, among others.

Following the opening ceremony, the event continued with an orientation session on academic regulations and study guidelines. New students were provided with detailed information about the structure of the Institute of Graduate Studies, academic policies, study plans, the Edusoft grade management system, English proficiency requirements (IELTS, TOEIC), as well as library and learning resources regulations. This orientation equips graduate students with a solid foundation to embark on their academic and research journey with confidence, effectiveness, and clear direction.
