International students begin their Fall Semester Exchange at HUTECH

On September 4, the “Welcome to HUTECH: Orientation Session for International Students” helped international students participating in the Fall Semester Exchange Program 2026-2027 familiarize themselves with the learning environment, receive essential information about student life, and experience Vietnamese culture before officially beginning their semester at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).
Jointly organized by the Department of International Relations and Project Management and the HUTECH Institute of International Education, the program welcomed students from eight universities: Myitkyina University (Myanmar); Bennett University and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (India); Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science (Taiwan, China); EPF Engineering School and CY Cergy Paris Université (France); Avans University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands); and VIA University College (Denmark). Bringing together students from diverse cultural backgrounds, the program created an open and engaging atmosphere for cultural exchange from their very first day at HUTECH.

At the Saigon Campus and the HUTECH Training Center (Thu Duc Campus), the students toured lecture halls and practice facilities, giving them a better sense of the learning environment they will experience throughout the semester. Conversations about their home countries, universities, and everyday life also helped spark the first connections among new friends.

Continuing their journey, the students visited Ben Thanh Market and Nguyen Hue Walking Street, experiencing the vibrant pace of life and distinctive culture of Ho Chi Minh City. Back at HUTECH, lunch at the campus canteen offered another opportunity to chat and share impressions from their morning exploring the city.
The afternoon orientation session provided essential information on academic regulations, visa procedures, temporary residence registration, health insurance, and emergency support channels. These practical guidelines helped the students better understand the relevant requirements, take an active approach to their studies and daily life, and begin their new semester with confidence.

Wrapping up their first day, the international students were ready for a new semester filled with new experiences and connections at HUTECH
The coconut leaf weaving activity with artisan Ha Tho added a distinctive cultural highlight to the program. Under the artisan’s guidance, the students created grasshoppers, roses, butterflies, dragonflies, and crabs from simple coconut leaves. This hands-on experience offered them a closer look at the beauty of traditional Southern Vietnamese handicrafts.
