Diverse cultural experiences at Vietnam – Korea Cultural Exchange Day 2026

From traditional games and creative activities to culinary experiences, the Vietnam – Korea Cultural Exchange Day 2026 created a lively space for Vietnamese and Korean students to better understand the culture, lifestyle, and people of both countries.
Organized by the Faculty of English Language at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with the HUTECH English Club (HEC), the program took place on August 5 and welcomed 14 students from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Korea) to join a series of cultural exchange and discovery activities.

Mr. Vo Quoc Dai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language, expressed his hope that the exchange activities would help students from both countries understand each other better and build meaningful relationships
After the opening session, students were divided into five teams, tasked with creating group names, slogans, and preparing for upcoming challenges. Within minutes, laughter, teamwork, and enthusiastic cheering quickly broke down barriers, setting a vibrant tone for the entire program.

The first challenge was Yutnori, a traditional Korean board game familiar to generations of Korean children. Through throwing sticks, calculating moves, and cooperating with teammates, HUTECH students learned more about this cultural tradition. Korean students also eagerly joined in, conquering challenges with their teams and creating moments of spirited exchange.

Korean students introduced Yutnori, a traditional board game, to Vietnamese friends
If Yutnori brought a taste of Korea, the conical hat decoration activity offered international students the chance to explore a familiar symbol of Vietnam. Each team exchanged ideas, selected images, colors, and patterns to design their own unique product. The decorated hats featured symbols of both Vietnam and Korea, alongside famous figures, familiar images, and personal touches from team members.

Every creative detail contributed to showcasing Vietnamese culture to international peers
The journey concluded with making and enjoying “bánh tráng trộn” (Vietnamese mixed rice paper salad). Using familiar ingredients from Vietnamese street food, teams prepared, seasoned, and shared their creations with new friends. Conversations about flavors, dining habits, and culinary traditions of each country made the exchange even more engaging, while introducing Korean students to a distinctive aspect of Vietnamese youth culture.

Each game, creative product, and shared dish became a bridge for young people to connect through real experiences, spreading the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends and enriching the journey of global integration for HUTECH students.
