Student exchange has become one of the top priorities for universities, offering learners the opportunity to study in an international environment and broaden their cultural perspectives.
To support this goal, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held the Opening Ceremony of the Short-Term Study Programme 2025 (STSP), welcoming 30 students from O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU, India) on the morning of December 3. The program is themed “Discover Vietnam: Cultural and Creative Immersion through Art, Design and Media.”
HUTECH welcomed 30 JGU students at the opening ceremony of the short-term exchange program
The program is designed to help JGU students explore Vietnam through art, design and media while learning about local culture and the professional environment in Ho Chi Minh City over the course of three weeks. During this time, students will participate in a variety of activities including academic sessions, skill workshops, cultural exchange events and company visits. These activities offer a comprehensive and dynamic introduction to life in Vietnam.
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President of HUTECH, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the visiting students. He emphasized that HUTECH is committed to experiential learning, where education extends beyond the classroom and into real-world environments.

He expressed confidence that the program would help JGU students gain deeper insights into Vietnamese art, media, culture and the vibrant rhythm of life in Ho Chi Minh City. Through academic activities combined with practical engagement with faculty and industry partners, students will also have opportunities to explore various career fields in Vietnam.
Dr. Vipra Pandey, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged the educational cooperation between the two countries and expressed his delight in supporting the program. He hoped the experience would inspire students to learn more about India and affirmed his willingness to welcome HUTECH faculty and students to India for academic exchange.

A representative from O. P. Jindal Global University shared that the program was developed based on the principle of learning through experience, as knowledge becomes more meaningful when students can observe, engage and connect directly with the local culture. For this reason, STSP 2025 is structured around a wide range of hands-on activities that enable students to encounter Vietnam from diverse and authentic perspectives.

As part of the program, students were also introduced to the final project, a key component of STSP 2025. Each group will choose a topic related to Vietnamese culture and complete a presentation and a short video based on their own experiences. This project allows students to apply their creativity, storytelling abilities and media skills, while demonstrating their understanding of Vietnam through firsthand learning. The final products will be assessed based on relevance to the topic, presentation quality and teamwork.

In the coming weeks, students will join a rich lineup of experiential activities. These include a city tour of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office and Ben Thanh Market; field trips to My Tho, Ben Tre and the Cu Chi Tunnels; and local immersive activities to gather material for their final projects. They will also attend professional workshops on videography and sound recording, interview and field-shooting techniques and risk assessment and etiquette on set. Cultural exchange sessions and company visits will take place throughout the program, giving students a deeper understanding of Vietnamese history, lifestyle and culture during their time in Vietnam.
