On August 27, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a working session with Hokkaido University of Science and Hokkaido Happiness Co., Ltd. to discuss cooperation opportunities in education, student exchange, scholarships, and employment in Japan.
 
At the beginning of the session, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, gave an overview of HUTECH and emphasized the importance of the extensive international cooperation network the University has built over the years. According to Ms. Lan Huong, Japan is one of the University’s key partners, and direct connections with Hokkaido University of Science and Hokkaido Happiness Co. mark an important step in advancing this collaboration.

The working session took place at Saigon Campus
 
Next, Ms. Ho To Lien, Head of the Faculty of Japanese Studies, shared about the orientation in Japanese language and culture education. Students of the Faculty are equipped with advanced Japanese language skills combined with cultural knowledge and essential skills, enabling them to adapt and maximize their abilities in study and work environments in Japan.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Director of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT), introduced programs aligned with practical business needs and the Institute’s internationalization goals. He noted that VJIT students not only have strong expertise but also receive structured Japanese language training, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources for Japanese enterprises both in Vietnam and Japan.

In terms of cooperation orientation, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President, affirmed that HUTECH always prioritizes internationalization, with Japan as a strategic partner. She stated that the University is ready to provide full support to implement cooperation initiatives with Hokkaido University of Science and Hokkaido Happiness Co., aiming toward the signing of an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.

The two sides discussed practical cooperation initiatives, most notably study abroad opportunities for HUTECH students with tuition exemption policies from the Japanese Government. Alongside these are short-term student exchange programs, allowing students to experience an international learning environment for periods ranging from one semester to one academic year. In addition, internship programs at Japanese companies were given particular attention, helping students gain hands-on experience, develop professional conduct, and enhance adaptability, thereby expanding long-term career opportunities after graduation.

It is noted that Hokkaido University of Science is a private university founded in 1924 in Sapporo, Hokkaido. The university specializes in engineering, construction, and nursing, with four faculties and thirteen majors, focusing on developing high-quality human resources ready to contribute to society.

The two sides agreed on various directions for future cooperation
 
The Japanese representatives expressed their desire to establish long-term cooperation with HUTECH, especially in human resource training, student exchange, scholarships, and employment. This working session not only reaffirmed HUTECH’s internationalization strategy but also opened up many study and career opportunities in Japan for students, especially those from VJIT and the Faculty of Japanese Studies.
