The meeting between the Department of International Relations and Project Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Prof. Thierry Simon, International Mobility Coordinator at the Institute of Economics and Management, CY Cergy Paris University, on April 17 opened up promising prospects for collaboration in semester exchange, internships, and long-term study opportunities for students.

The meeting between HUTECH and Prof. Thierry Simon focused on collaboration directions and expanding learning opportunities for students
At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, expressed her pleasure in welcoming Prof. Thierry Simon to HUTECH and highlighted the strong partnership between the two institutions over the years. She also shared that HUTECH will continue to host more internship students from CYU in the coming period, further promoting academic exchange activities between the two sides.

Prof. Thierry Simon shared important insights on organizing and supporting international students, including an overview of current exchange programs and future directions. Topics such as accommodation, student clubs for long term exchange participants, communication methods, and support mechanisms throughout the program were discussed in detail.

Notably, CYU introduced its effective Mentor one to one model, which supports international students in adapting to both academic and daily life. Based on this, Prof. Thierry Simon suggested that HUTECH could explore and develop a similar approach to enhance the experience of international students. He also proposed implementing exchange programs around May, June, or July and discussed credit transfer and recognition at HUTECH, indicating strong compatibility with the French credit system.
A highlight of the meeting was the sharing session by Vo Gia Khanh, a second-year student majoring in Fashion Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts, who recently completed a semester exchange at CYU. From the initial challenges of preparing application documents to real study experiences at the Institute of Economics and Management, his journey offered a vivid perspective on the opportunities available to HUTECH students in an international environment.

During his time in France, Gia Khanh engaged in a variety of courses, including Art and Culture and Social and Human Sciences taught directly by Professor Thierry Simon. For a Fashion Design student, studying in a multicultural environment and accessing interdisciplinary content helped broaden his professional thinking, enrich his aesthetic perspective, and strengthen his ability to connect knowledge with creative practice.
Beyond academics, Gia Khanh had the opportunity to visit several European countries, attend Paris Fashion Week 2026, and expand his international network within the fashion industry. Experiences in one of the world’s leading fashion capitals helped him refine his perspective, develop his mindset, and gain valuable practical knowledge alongside his academic foundation.
The meeting continues to open up new directions for academic exchange and international learning opportunities for students
The connections strengthened through this meeting are expected to create more opportunities for learning, experience, and international exchange for students of both institutions, while further deepening educational cooperation between Vietnam and France in an increasingly integrated global context.
