The 2nd ICE International Cultural Exchange 2026 concluded with the participation of 17 universities and educational institutions from multiple countries. On May 18, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) hosted the closing ceremony of “The 2nd ICE International Cultural Exchange 2026” under the theme “Sustainable Tourism 2026: Change in Action.” The event was held online via Zoom, bringing together representatives, lecturers, and students from 17 universities and educational institutions across Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of the University, emphasized that ICE 2026 served as an important platform for universities, lecturers, and students to exchange ideas and explore practical solutions for sustainable development. With this year’s theme, the program encouraged students to go beyond theoretical discussions and focus on action, innovation, and contributions to addressing global challenges, particularly in sustainable tourism.

A key highlight of the closing ceremony was the announcement of Memoranda of Understanding among the 17 participating universities and educational institutions. This milestone reflects a long-term commitment to collaboration and opens up new opportunities for student and faculty exchange, academic research, and initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Representative of Politeknik Piksi Ganesha from Indonesia, the initiator of the first ICE program, Assoc. Prof. H. K. Prihartono shared that the program created a meaningful academic and cultural exchange environment through poster showcases and tourism video presentations. He noted that ICE 2026 strengthened mutual understanding, connectivity, and international cooperation among students and universities in the region.

During the closing ceremony, 19 international teams showcased their projects, and award results were announced. The entries were evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of experts from universities and international organizations in education, tourism, and hospitality. The combination of academic and industry perspectives provided diverse and objective feedback on the students’ ideas.

HUTECH students achieved outstanding results this year, winning two awards, including Second Prize in the Best Vote Award category and First Prize in the Outstanding Creativity Award category. These achievements highlight the creativity, innovation, and ability of HUTECH students to connect cultural values with sustainable tourism in an international academic environment.
