On May 20, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed the evaluation team from the Center for Education Accreditation under Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM CEA) for a preliminary site visit in preparation for the external assessment of three Master’s degree programs, including Automotive Engineering, Finance and Banking, and Veterinary Medicine, in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of the University, shared an overview of HUTECH’s long standing journey in quality assurance and accreditation. Over the years, the University has actively implemented institutional and program accreditation across various academic levels and disciplines under both domestic and international standards. She noted that this process has not only helped HUTECH continuously improve its governance system and standardize academic operations, but has also contributed to fostering a quality culture throughout the institution.
At the same time, Dr. Ly Thien Trang highly appreciated the preliminary feedback provided by the VNU-HCM CEA evaluation team and expressed confidence that the experts would continue offering valuable professional recommendations to help HUTECH further refine its evidence system, review the effectiveness of quality assurance activities, and thoroughly prepare for the upcoming official site visit in a spirit of openness, objectivity, and collaboration.

Representing the VNU-HCM CEA evaluation team, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment under VNU-HCM and head of the evaluation team, shared key information regarding the official assessment process. Through discussions and on-site observations at various units, the evaluation team acknowledged the University’s thorough preparation in terms of facilities, evidence systems, and notable improvements in quality assurance practices. In particular, the implementation of evidence documentation in both physical and digital formats demonstrated a systematic approach and strong readiness to meet accreditation requirements.

In addition, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh emphasized the importance of establishing a clear evidence and data system capable of measuring program learning outcomes. According to him, assessment and continuous improvement are mandatory requirements in quality accreditation and serve as a foundation for the University to sustainably enhance educational quality.

As part of the preliminary site visit, the evaluation team reviewed supporting documents and inspected facilities at related units, including the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, the Department of Science and Technology, the Central Library, the Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, and other areas designated for the upcoming official assessment. The team also worked with the self-assessment report committee to review the completeness and coherence of the evidence system.

Concluding the program, HUTECH signed the Minutes of the Preliminary Site Visit with the VNUHCM-CEA and the external evaluation team. This marks an important preparatory step, laying a strong foundation for the official assessment scheduled to take place from June 3 to 6, 2026 at HUTECH.
