On the evening of January 13, students from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized a variety show titled “Miên Ái”, themed “In the End, It’s All About Love.” The event offered a unique reinterpretation of the Vietnamese folktale “Tam Cam”, focusing on the love story between the characters Tam and Cam, delivering a visually captivating and emotionally engaging experience for the audience.
This event marked the final project of the Event Management course, and was also organized in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at HUTECH.
“Miên Ái” – a student-led variety show by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management
Inspired by the Vietnamese folktale Tam Cam, HUTECH students brought a fresh perspective to the story, delving into the characters’ emotional journeys through the lens of love — not just enduring love, but the quest for true love. The project was carried out under the academic guidance of Ms. Do Thi Hong Phu, Lecturer of the Faculty.
The stage of “Miên Ái” vividly and creatively brought the "Tấm Cám" folktale to life, offering a distinctive
and emotionally rich reinterpretation of the classic story.
To convey their creative concept, the students presented a wide range of performances across various genres — from dance, musical theater, and drama to vocal performances — through segments titled Jealousy, Loss, Rediscovery, and Side Story. Featured acts included the energetic dance “Bống Bống Bang Bang”, the emotional play “Chị ngã em nâng”, and heartfelt songs like “Vọng Nguyệt” and “Duyên mình lỡ”.Each performance took the audience on a journey through different emotional stages, leaving a lasting impression of love as portrayed in the story of "Tấm Cám".
The vibrant dance, musical, and theatrical performances beautifully reflected the theme: “In the End, It’s All About Love.”
The highlight of the event lay not only in its refreshing storytelling approach but also in the innovative stage design. Breaking away from the traditional rectangular setup, the students skillfully combined rectangular, curved, and circular stage formats, adorned with white carpets and fresh flowers. The result was a dazzling, grand atmosphere — one that could easily be mistaken for a professionally produced show.
The stage was meticulously designed and impressively executed by the students
To bring this event to life, HUTECH students took charge of every aspect — just like professional event organizers. They divided into specialized teams, including organizing committee, secretariat, sound & lighting, design, decoration, reception & external affairs, marketing, logistics, performance, and content teams — each responsible for specific tasks aligned with their roles and expertise.
The students worked closely and supported one another to deliver the best possible experience for the audience
Speaking about the organizing process, Nguyen Trieu Ngan, Head of the Organizing Committee, shared: “We divided into several teams, each responsible for a main task. However, throughout the working process, there were no rigid boundaries — everyone supported one another to ensure everything ran smoothly.”
“Through this hands-on experience, I’ve gained a lot of valuable lessons in organizing an event — especially in improving my reflexes when unexpected issues arise and strengthening my sense of responsibility at work. I’m confident these lessons will greatly benefit my future career,” Trieu Ngan added.
As an audience member, Pham Thi Ngoc Huyen, a HUTECH student, shared her thoughts: “I was truly amazed that the upperclassmen were able to organize such a professional and unique event on their own. Everything — from the content, sound, and lighting to the stage design and logistics — was so well-prepared. It left a lasting impression on me and many others. Through this event, I’ve learned a lot and gained motivation to take on upcoming event projects in my own coursework.”
A large number of attendees showed great interest and participated in this grand event
Organizing such a large-scale event by themselves was a valuable experience for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management. It helped them strengthen their professional skills, gain practical experience, and become more confident in their upcoming career journeys.
