Students of HUTECH and Marquette University (USA) learned about Vietnam Economy - Politics - Legal Issues

On March 15, 2024, the Institute of International Education of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized the workshop “Vietnam: Economy, Politics, and Legal Issues” to facilitate students of both universities to gain a deeper insight into Vietnamese economic, political, and legal issues.

The workshop is part of the international exchange program “Vietnam Study Tour Program 2024”
Representatives of Marquette University included Prof. Jamshid Hosseini - Lecturer of the International Business Department and Ph.D. Alexander Milovic - Director of the Business Center. For HUTECH, there was Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang - Vice Senior Director of the HUTECH Institute of International Education.

Initially, Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang briefly introduced Vietnam’s history, politics, legal issues, and international integration as well as the typical age of marriage, land laws, and illegal behaviors to all students to provide a further understanding of Vietnam’s laws and regulations.

Furthermore, Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang emphasized Vietnam’s economic growth in 2024, its international integration according to ASEAN, CPTPP and FTA agreements along with changes and challenges related to the Vietnamese economy. Afterwards, students were split into two groups to apply what they had just learned by mutual discussions and subsequent presentations to the larger group.

The workshop ended up providing international students with a clearer understanding of the development potential, integration, economy, politics, and legal issues of the “S-shaped country”. As a result, abundant opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges, improved communication, and language skills were created for the ready-to-be global citizens, HUTECH students.
