HUTECH partners with Italian Science & Technology Attaché to expand sustainable research opportunities

On December 13, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) hosted a working session with Prof. Dr. Marco Abbiati, Science and Technology Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, to discuss collaboration opportunities in education, scientific research, and sustainable development.

The session establishes a foundation for HUTECH’s relationships with Italian partners
 
The meeting began with an overview of the HUTECH Education System, international collaboration programs, and the university’s prominent research activities, presented by Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management. She highlighted HUTECH’s active participation in the European Union’s ERASMUS+ scholarship program and its strategic partnerships with leading Italian universities such as the University of Genoa.

In his role as Science and Technology Attaché, Prof. Dr. Marco Abbiati outlined key areas of advanced research, including environmental protection, offshore wind energy, and measures to mitigate environmental impact. As a professor at the University of Bologna—one of the world’s oldest universities—he has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between Italian and Vietnamese universities and research organizations through international projects like Horizon Europe. He also expressed his enthusiasm for serving as the keynote speaker at the 2025 GSETS International Conference hosted by HUTECH, which will focus on “Green Solutions and Emerging Technologies for Sustainability.”

During the session, Dr. Ha Thi My Ngan, Assistant to the Head of the Department of Science and Technology, provided an overview of the 2025 GSETS Conference, which will cover topics such as advanced materials, green production technologies, and the application of artificial intelligence in sustainable development. Prof. Dr. Marco Abbiati praised these topics for their relevance and alignment with global development trends. He proposed that HUTECH connect with Italian universities and research organizations through Horizon Europe projects to strengthen research capacity and foster innovation.

Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh, Vice President of HUTECH, expressed a strong desire to expand collaborations with Italian universities in international training programs. He emphasized that these initiatives would not only enhance the capabilities of HUTECH’s faculty and staff but also provide students with access to world-class learning environments. Prof. Dr. Marco Abbiati commended these efforts, highlighting the timely nature of such collaborations, especially given HUTECH’s existing positive relationship with the University of Genoa.

Both parties agreed to maintain communication and explore detailed plans for future collaborations, aiming to bring joint projects between HUTECH and Italian partners to fruition.
