Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) continues to strengthen its presence on the academic map by rising to 4th place among 68 universities and research institutions in Vietnam in the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2026.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in HUTECH’s scientific research and innovation activities. It also reinforces the university’s steadily growing position within Vietnam’s higher education system as well as in the international research community.
According to the latest results, HUTECH has climbed seven positions compared to 2025, moving from 11th place to the Top 4 in Vietnam in this year’s ranking. This impressive progress reflects the university’s sustained efforts to enhance research quality, promote innovation, and strengthen its academic impact within the global scientific community.

Twelve higher education institutions and research institutes in Vietnam appear in the SCImago Rankings 2026
The SCImago Institutions Rankings is an international ranking system based in Spain that evaluates research and higher education institutions worldwide. The ranking is based on data from the Scopus scientific database and three key indicators, including Research, which accounts for 50 percent, Innovation, which accounts for 30 percent, and Societal Impact, which accounts for 20 percent.
Notably, in the 2026 results, HUTECH’s Research indicator improved by 231 positions compared to 2025, moving from 5160 to 4929 globally. This indicator reflects the capacity of the university’s faculty members and researchers to expand research coverage, strengthen collaboration with international organizations, and publish in reputable international journals. In addition, HUTECH’s Innovation indicator has shown clear improvement over the past two years.
