On February 13, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the nonprofit organization Green Shoots Foundation. This agreement marks an important milestone in international collaboration aimed at developing sustainable education and delivering tangible benefits to students.
During the opening remarks, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, warmly welcomed the representatives from Green Shoots Foundation. She emphasized the critical role of international cooperation in education, especially as HUTECH prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in April. She also highlighted the university’s commitment to sustainability and practicality in its curricula, as seen in courses like Project Design and international community support projects such as Lex 2025—a collaboration between Singapore Polytechnic and HUTECH.

Also in attendance were other representatives from HUTECH and UEF, including Dr. Hoang Ngoc Nhung, Deputy Head of International Relations and Project Management, Mr. Tang Thong Nhan, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Prof. Dr. Eric Olmedo, Director of the Institute of International Education and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation at UEF
Representing Green Shoots Foundation, Ms. Muneezay Jaffery, Executive Director, provided an overview of the organization. Established in 2010 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, Green Shoots Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished communities through microfinance, education, and healthcare initiatives. The organization operates in several high-poverty countries, including India, Cambodia, Myanmar, and the Philippines. This partnership with HUTECH promises to offer valuable learning opportunities and hands-on experiences for students while contributing positively to social projects.

Green Shoots Foundation promises to deliver practical value to students through experiential programs
At the ceremony, representatives from both sides signed the MoU, committing to jointly develop innovative educational programs that benefit both students and the community. The collaboration aims to create forward-thinking curricula that provide students with enhanced opportunities for hands-on learning and research. Additionally, students will have access to internships, research projects, and volunteer activities, enabling them to build professional skills and gain practical experience. Both parties also agreed to boost resource sharing, exchange information, and offer technical support to further educational initiatives and community development.
The MOU signing marks a significant milestone in the long-term collaboration between HUTECH and Green Shoots Foundation
Through this agreement, HUTECH students will gain more opportunities to engage in real-world projects, thereby enhancing their professional skills and creative thinking. Partnering with an influential nonprofit like Green Shoots Foundation also paves the way for training responsible human resources committed to community development and global sustainability.
