HUTECH signs MoU with University of Auckland - New Zealand’s #1 University

On February 26, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and the University of Auckland (UoA) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster collaboration in education, research, and student and faculty exchanges.
 
The signing ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam – Vice Chairman of HUTECH’s Board of Directors, and Prof. Dawn Freshwater – Vice-Chancellor of UoA. Notably, the event was witnessed by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Vietnam’s Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, underscoring both nations’ commitment to advancing higher education.

Held in Hanoi, the event brought together key leaders and representatives from various educational institutions across the country

The University of Auckland ranks #65 in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and holds the #1 position in New Zealand, renowned for its excellence in research and education across multiple disciplines, particularly in science and technology. Partnering with UoA will expand learning and research opportunities for HUTECH students while enhancing teaching quality to meet the growing demand for a highly skilled workforce.
 
Under the agreement, HUTECH and UoA will collaborate on student and faculty exchange programs, joint training initiatives, and scientific research projects. Additionally, the two universities are in discussions to establish joint academic programs in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Data Science—fields that play a pivotal role in the digital transformation era and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As part of this agreement, HUTECH students in the Information Technology program will have the opportunity to transfer to UoA for their final year, allowing them to experience an international academic environment. This initiative further reinforces the high-quality education offered at HUTECH, particularly within the Faculty of Information Technology, as its curriculum is aligned with and recognized by a globally renowned institution like UoA.
 
The MoU signing between HUTECH and UoA marks a significant milestone in expanding international partnerships, contributing to the enhancement of higher education quality and providing students with access to a modern, globally integrated learning environment.
