The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) was established in 2009 by the SCImago research group. SCImago, headquartered in Spain, is a research organization that provides information on the scientific research quality of countries and institutions, as well as journal reputation. It analyzes indicators based on data from the Scopus database, developed by Elsevier (Netherlands) since 2004. In addition to providing information, SCImago also develops ranking systems to assess the research capacity of universities and research institutes worldwide.

According to SCImago 2024, research institutions around the world (universities and research institutes) are ranked based on three criteria: (1) Research – 50%, (2) Innovation – 30%, and (3) Societal Impact – 20%. Among the 53 Vietnamese universities and research institutes listed in the SCImago rankings, HUTECH is honored to be ranked 11th.
