Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held an official working session with representatives from Sigma University (India), marking a new step forward in international cooperation between the two universities.
The meeting was part of a series of academic and cultural exchange events from July 26 to August 3, organized by the Department of International Relations and Project Management. It was also an opportunity for HUTECH and Sigma University to review the activities of the entire series and discuss future development cooperation plans.
Representing HUTECH at the meeting were Dr. Ly Thien Trang - Vice President, and Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong - Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management
From Sigma University, the representatives were Dr. Nipa Desai - Director of the Institute of Engineering and Head of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, and Dr. Priyanka Patil - Director of the Institute of Pharmacy and Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy
At the meeting, Dr. Ly Thien Trang expressed gratitude to Dr. Priyanka Patil and Dr. Nipa Desai for their meaningful contributions during their time at the university. She also appreciated the effective collaboration of the two speakers in designing workshop content that met learning and research needs, thereby contributing to creating a dynamic and multidimensional academic environment at HUTECH. The university representative affirmed that HUTECH is always ready to expand cooperation with reputable international partners such as Sigma University, so that students and lecturers have more opportunities to access global knowledge.
Representatives of the two universities discussed and proposed many directions for long-term cooperation, ranging from conducting joint research projects on cultural differences and strengths between Vietnam and India, to implementing student exchange programs and expanding research collaboration in fields such as Construction Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Sciences, Pharmacy, Hotel and Tourism Management.

In addition, both sides proposed implementing faculty exchange programs and organizing online classes on global cuisine and mental health, which are becoming increasingly relevant in the context of educational globalization and the sustainable development goals of both lecturers and students.
The meeting concluded in a friendly and open atmosphere. Both universities agreed to maintain close contact, share specific proposals, and work step-by-step to realize cooperation plans. The positive results of this visit and working session are clear evidence of the effectiveness of HUTECH’s international relations development strategy, aiming to build a multicultural, creative, and internationally integrated educational environment.

Within the series of academic and cultural exchange events from July 26 to August 3, two lecturers from Sigma University participated in many academic and cultural activities at HUTECH. Notably, a series of four specialized workshops were organized in coordination with various university units, bringing practical value to students, lecturers, and staff: from the story of a modern Indian marvel in the workshop “Making of The Statue of Unity: A Marvel of Modern Indian Engineering” for students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering; to lively discussions on sustainable transport in “Sustainable Mobility: Assessing Public Transport and Promoting Electric/Green Transportation” for students of the Institute of International Education; the workshop “Hands-on Training: Advanced Analytical Instrumentation” for lecturers and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and an inspiring workshop on leadership and traditional Indian culture through lessons from the Bhagavad Gita - one of India’s most prominent spiritual and cultural heritages.

Alongside the workshops, the two Sigma University lecturers also interacted with HUTECH students during the Global Festival 2025. As content advisors for the Indian cultural booth, Dr. Priyanka Patil and Dr. Nipa Desai accompanied students in preparation, guiding them in presenting traditional clothing, signature cuisine, and distinctive artistic and cultural features of their country. Through these activities, the atmosphere of international exchange at HUTECH became more vibrant and meaningful, offering students enriched and practical multicultural experiences.
