Through a working session with a representative from China Medical University (CMU) on March 23, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) marked another step forward in the internationalization of its Health Sciences disciplines. The meeting aims to foster deeper collaboration in postgraduate education, academic exchange, and scientific research.
The session was part of a series of ongoing activities that build on the effective partnership between HUTECH and CMU in recent years, while also opening up new prospects for internationalizing HUTECH’s Health Sciences disciplines.

During the meeting, CMU representatives provided an overview of the university, highlighting its position among the top one percent of universities worldwide and its strengths in medical education and research. CMU also introduced its Shui-Nan campus, which has been developed with a modern orientation, integrating advanced technologies, a digital learning environment, and interdisciplinary research centers to support high quality education.
A key focus of the session was the introduction of CMU’s doctoral programs. The partner university shared an overview of its PhD offerings, which are designed with a strong research orientation, combining solid academic foundations with practical applications in medicine and healthcare.

CMU also highlighted its learning conditions, including state-of-the-art laboratories, specialized research centers, and a university model closely integrated with its affiliated hospital system. This structure provides strong support for clinical practice and applied research. In addition, doctoral candidates are given opportunities to participate in research projects, publish in international journals, and pursue long-term academic development.
HUTECH representatives expressed their appreciation for the quality of education and research potential at CMU, while also showing strong interest in expanding advanced study opportunities for faculty members, particularly in Health Sciences and biomedical fields.

Both sides agreed to continue identifying and connecting qualified candidates for participation in doctoral programs in the near future. This is considered a meaningful step toward enhancing the academic workforce at HUTECH, while supporting the university’s strategy to develop highly qualified faculty who can meet the demands of global integration in higher education.

In addition to discussions on postgraduate education, CMU representatives toured the facilities of HUTECH’s Health Sciences disciplines and met with related units such as the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science. During these engagements, both sides exchanged information on curriculum design, laboratory systems, teaching and practice facilities, as well as future directions for academic collaboration. These discussions highlighted the alignment in development orientations between HUTECH and CMU and laid the groundwork for more concrete collaborative initiatives moving forward.
