Two HUTECH scientists join NAFOSTED Scientific Council for Applied Research

According to the announcement of NAFOSTED, 2 scientists from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has officially joined the Scientific Council of Applied Research for the 2024–2026 term.

The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) recently held a meeting to honor members of the Scientific Council of Applied Research (SCAR) for the 2020–2022 and 2022–2024 terms, while also announcing the establishment of the SCAR for the 2024–2026 term. At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phu Binh - Deputy Director of NAFOSTED, announced Decision No. 38/QĐ-HĐQL-NAFOSTED on the consolidation of the SCAR.
 
Members of the SCAR are scientists with outstanding research achievements, meeting the expert criteria set out in Circular 37/2014/TT-BKHCN, and nominated with high recognition from the academic community.

According to this decision, the 2024–2026 term includes 12 councils in specialized and interdisciplinary fields, ranging from natural sciences, engineering, medicine and pharmacy, agriculture, to social sciences and humanities. This is considered an extensive academic network that contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of NAFOSTED’s research funding activities.
 
Among the recognized members, HUTECH is honored to have 02 scientists serving on the SCAR, in the fields that represent the university’s strengths.
 
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Nguyen - Vice President of HUTECH, becomes a member of the SCAR in Economics. He is currently in charge of the Vietnam-Korea program and short-term training at HUTECH. With many papers published in prestigious scientific journals at home and abroad, along with successful supervision of PhD candidates and graduate students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Nguyen has made significant contributions to the development of the Economics field.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan is a member of the SCAR in the interdisciplinary field of Chemical and Biological Technology. He is one of the outstanding figures in research and academic management at HUTECH, with many works of both academic value and practical application.

The participation of two HUTECH scientists in the new term of the NAFOSTED Scientific Council once again affirms the academic prestige and research capacity of the university on the map of science, technology, and innovation in Vietnam. This also serves as a driving force for HUTECH to further promote research strengths, improve training quality, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

 
NAFOSTED, under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, was established to promote both basic and applied scientific research. The foundation funds numerous research projects in natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences and humanities, with a transparent and rigorous review process conducted by expert councils. In addition to financial support, NAFOSTED also fosters international cooperation, helps develop domestic research capacity, and strengthens the connection between research and practice.
