“Our nation is entering a new era, and the role of education is pivotal,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Sc. Ho Dac Loc - President, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s Education sector and the Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) on September 5.
A highlight of the event was that HUTECH broadcast live the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s education sector and the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year, hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), aired on VTV1 - Vietnam Television. For the first time, all educational institutions nationwide simultaneously held the flag salute, sang the national anthem, and launched the new academic year in a unified, solemn ceremony, with the participation of approximately 1.6 million teachers and nearly 26 million students.

Right after the national ceremony, HUTECH held its own Opening Ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year, officially marking the start of teaching, research, and student activities. In his welcome speech, Prof. Dr. Sc. Ho Dac Loc - President of the University - emphasized that both General Secretary To Lam and Minister Nguyen Kim Son shared the same key message: Vietnam is entering a new era where education plays a pivotal role. They also underlined the importance of innovation as the country moves toward prosperity and aims, under the Politburo’s Resolution, to become a developed nation by 2045.
He stressed that HUTECH’s contributions directly support this development and noted that this year not only marks important milestones for the country but also HUTECH’s 30th anniversary. He expressed gratitude to faculty members for their dedication and wished them health, happiness, and success as they continue to train talent and contribute to the nation’s sustainable growth.

To recognize achievements and encourage new students to strive harder in their university years, HUTECH awarded a full-tuition scholarship for the entire course to Le Thu Hai Ha - a freshman in Chinese Studies and the valedictorian of this year’s entrance exam. Speaking at the ceremony, Hai Ha emotionally shared: “This is a tremendous encouragement and a precious motivation for me to keep striving and working hard in my studies ahead. I promise to maintain both my performance and learning attitude, to train myself well, and not to disappoint my parents, teachers, and the University.”

On this occasion, Dr. Bui Van The Vinh - Vice President, representing the University Board of Directors - announced the Resolutions on establishing, separating, renaming units, transferring study fields, and appointing new leaders for the 2025-2026 academic year. Accordingly, 10 faculty members were newly appointed as leaders, ready to take on the responsibility of guiding and developing their units in the new stage.

In his directive remarks, Dr. Kieu Xuan Hung - Chairman of the University Board of Directors - stressed: “In this new academic year, we set many goals related to issues such as administration, teaching, teaching methods, faculty quality, and student services. We can continue to maintain what is good, but what is not, we must remove. However, the most important thing is to always foster innovative and creative thinking across many aspects. Only with dedication and determination can we maintain HUTECH’s position and achieve sustainable development.”
