The year 2025 marked a period of steady progress for Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in strengthening its academic profile and international engagement. During the year, the University was recognized in several reputable global university rankings and continued to expand program accreditation in line with international standards.
Looking back on the past year, these results serve as objective indicators of HUTECH’s performance in education and research, as well as its consistent approach to development with quality assurance as a central focus.

Within the global higher education landscape, HUTECH’s academic capacity has been measured through internationally recognized benchmarks. According to the Best Global Universities 2024–2025 rankings published by U.S. News & World Report, HUTECH was ranked 314th worldwide in Engineering and 687th worldwide in Computer Science. In the Engineering field, the University recorded a total score of 53.6 and ranked first globally for the “Percentage of publications among the top 10% most cited,” and within the top five for “Normalized Citation Impact.”

In the SCImago rankings, HUTECH placed 11th among 53 Vietnamese universities and research institutes with strong research performance. The University also ranked within the top three in Engineering and top four in Computer Science. In the field of Economics, Management, and Finance, HUTECH was ranked 23rd out of 53.

HUTECH maintains strong positions across engineering, science, and economics-related fields
In terms of academic visibility and knowledge dissemination, HUTECH ranked 11th among 124 Vietnamese universities in the January 2025 Webometrics rankings released by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) of Spain. Globally, the University was ranked 2,302nd out of 31,364 universities, placing it within the top 10 percent of institutions listed.

According to the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), HUTECH ranked 8th among 22 Vietnamese universities with strong academic performance and 1,620th globally, further reinforcing its research profile.
Notably, 2025 marked HUTECH’s first inclusion in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025 published by Quacquarelli Symonds, where the University was ranked 287th in Asia and 6th in Vietnam, among more than 1400 universities evaluated across the region.

Alongside ranking results, accreditation and quality assurance remained key priorities in HUTECH’s academic development. In 2025, the University completed AUN-QA assessment for four master’s programs, Economic Law, Civil Engineering, English Language, and Tourism and Travel Management, under the standards of the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), receiving positive feedback from international assessors. This brought the total number of AUN-QA–assessed programs to 14 at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

In the same year, HUTECH underwent assessment for FIBAA accreditation, a Swiss government-recognized quality assurance organization, for four undergraduate programs: Accounting, International Business, Business Administration, and Restaurant and Food Service Management. The accreditation was conducted online, demonstrating the University’s ability to meet international quality standards in a changing educational environment.

In addition, HUTECH was awarded a QS 4 Stars Rating for the second evaluation cycle, achieving a score of 772 points, an increase of 27 points compared to the previous cycle. The University received 5 Stars in five criteria: Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Good Governance, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
