With the aim of enhancing training quality and promoting international integration, on December 16, the Faculty of Japanese Studies at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a working session with the Japan-Asia Medical Welfare Education Research Institute (JAMWEI).
Representing HUTECH, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President, presented the development orientation of the Health Sciences cluster, including Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Pharmacy - fields that are receiving focused investment and are also in high demand in Japan. This opens up significant opportunities for cooperation in both training and recruitment. At the same time, Dr. Ly Thien Trang proposed aligning professional training with Japanese language education and Japanese culture, with the aim of strengthening students’ integration capacity and enabling them to proactively adapt and be well prepared for international study and work environments.

From the JAMWEI side, the partner expressed interest in discussing scholarship programs for students, with priority given to majors in the healthcare sector. Scholarship details will be discussed based on proposals from the University to ensure alignment with academic programs and students’ capabilities, thereby encouraging learning motivation, fostering ambition, and supporting clear career orientation. In addition, JAMWEI encourages scholarship recipients to write thank-you letters in Japanese as a way to express appreciation and further strengthen Vietnam–Japan connections.

Beyond scholarships, the cooperation program also opens up recruitment and employment opportunities in Japan for students. Accordingly, students who are interested and meet basic requirements may apply to partner enterprises. Key requirements focus on Japanese communication skills, a serious attitude, a strong sense of progress, and compliance with regulations; the specific major is not a mandatory criterion. The recruitment process is expected to include two interview rounds.
The working session opens up promising prospects for training cooperation, contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce for society
The working session with JAMWEI not only offers students opportunities for learning and career development but also creates a strong linkage among training, scholarships, and employment prospects. Through this partnership, the two institutions work together to develop a high-quality workforce that meets the demands of integration and development in the context of globalization.
