At the end of the season, 44 awards were presented, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize, and 4 Consolation Prizes in each category. Category D had 5 Consolation Prizes. One Special Prize was selected from the six First Prize winners to honor the most outstanding project of the entire competition.

The Special Prize was awarded to Ninh Vinh Ky, a HUTECH student majoring in Information Security, for the project “Research on technical attack testing solutions for 4G LTE, 5G NSA mobile telecommunications networks and early warning applications”. The project focuses on studying vulnerabilities and attack risks in telecommunications infrastructure, then developing technical solutions to detect abnormal signs early, contributing to enhanced digital security.

A highlight of the project is the development of the VN-CSSDETECTOR system, which integrates SDR devices with a simulated network environment to recreate attack scenarios and test solutions under conditions close to real-world settings. The system can identify various risk indicators such as abnormal IMSI or IMEI requests, empty encryption suggestions EEA0, forced network downgrades, and missing standard SIB message sequences, thereby providing early warnings to users. Beyond academic testing, the project is oriented toward open-source development, opening up opportunities for further advancement and real-world application in telecommunications security.

Sharing about the project journey, Ninh Vinh Ky said, “During the four months of working on the project, I developed the idea, studied the theory, purchased and used specialized equipment such as SDR for experimentation, verified the model’s accuracy, and then completed the solution. The project will be open sourced on GitHub so the community can continue to develop it. Through this process, I gained deeper knowledge of telecommunications such as how 4G networks operate and what SDR is, while also strengthening my understanding of EEA encryption in the field of Information Security.”
