In the process of renewal and integration, internationalization has increasingly been affirmed as a core pillar in improving the quality of education, scientific research, and university governance.

Demonstrating this strategic direction, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has continuously promoted international cooperation in a comprehensive and sustainable manner, ranging from participation in reputable academic rankings and the implementation of international research to the signing of cooperation agreements with partners worldwide. Through these efforts, the University has gradually strengthened its position within the regional and global academic community.

The year 2025 marked an important milestone in HUTECH’s international integration journey, as the University achieved a ranking of 287 in Asia and sixth in Vietnam in the QS Asia University Rankings upon its first participation. This achievement reflects HUTECH’s proactive approach and steady progress toward meeting international higher education standards.

 
In addition, HUTECH was awarded a QS 4-Star rating for the second evaluation under the new assessment framework, with five out of nine criteria receiving the highest 5 Star rating, notably in Good Governance. The University’s academic reputation has continued to grow, with U.S. News and World Report ranking HUTECH among the top 314 universities worldwide in Engineering and the top 687 in Computer Science, while SCImago Institutions Rankings placed the University among the top 11 leading education and research institutions in Vietnam.

Alongside these international recognitions, HUTECH’s cooperation activities have been dynamic and extensive. The University organized more than 123 working sessions, hosted international delegations, and signed 93 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with foreign universities, educational organizations, and enterprises. These partnerships span a wide range of activities, including joint education initiatives, scientific research, international conferences, faculty and student exchanges, and short-term academic programs.

Through this process, HUTECH’s partner network has continued to expand, linking the University with reputable institutions in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, China, European countries, Australia, the United States, and India. This network provides a strong foundation for advancing the internationalization of academic offerings and enhancing the quality of scholarly activities.

The effectiveness of this cooperation strategy is clearly reflected in HUTECH’s continuous expansion of faculty and student exchange activities, which have become a central component of its internationalization agenda. Collaborative networks have been established and strengthened with universities and educational organizations such as Hosei University in Japan; Tongmyong University and Korea Cyber University in the Republic of Korea; Chulalongkorn University in Thailand; National University of Singapore; OP Jindal Global University in India; the University of Newcastle in Australia; SMA Persekutuan Bentong (SUPERB) in Malaysia; the University of Groningen in the Netherlands; and Université Paris Saclay in France.

Building on these partnerships, learners gain access to a multicultural academic environment through joint classes, thematic seminars, international internship programs, and both in person and online exchange activities.

Creating an international learning environment rich in experience for students
 
HUTECH has also progressively strengthened the capacity of its academic and administrative staff through participation in and co-implementation of various international cooperation projects and initiatives, particularly in the field of transnational education under the UK-TNE framework. Notable examples include academic workshops such as “Enhancing Quality Assurance in Transnational Education between the United Kingdom and Vietnam: Building Sustainable Curricula with AI Driven Innovation” and “Innovative Curriculum Design and Assessment Strategies in Transnational Education: Challenges and Opportunities,” which clearly demonstrate the University’s proactive engagement, international connectivity, and academic competence.
 
In addition, the University has taken part in projects focused on human development and leadership, including “She Leads: The Power of Self Leadership” and the workshop “Leading with Positivity to Support Lecturer Wellbeing,” contributing to the promotion of gender equality and mental wellbeing among staff.

Alongside academic initiatives, HUTECH has strengthened international education and research cooperation through programs such as Learning Express with Singapore Polytechnic in Singapore and joint research projects involving students from Hosei University. HUTECH students gradually grow into confident global citizens alongside international peers
 
A key highlight of HUTECH’s international integration strategy is its role as host for major international scientific events. A notable example is the Second International Scientific Conference on Green Solutions and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development (GSETS 2025), which brought together nearly 300 scientists and experts from Vietnam and abroad. The conference opened up numerous opportunities for cooperation and academic exchange in materials science, green technology, data science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This was complemented by a series of other major scientific events, including the International Conference on Vernacular Heritage ISVS 14, the Second International Conference on Modern Mechanics and Applications ICOMMA 2025, the Southeast Region Research and Innovation Day in conjunction with the Seventh Annual International Conference of the City High Tech Park in 2025, and the Future Frame Celebration Week 2025 film and technology series.

The international academic space is expanded through large scale scientific events
 
Most recently, in December 2025, HUTECH served as the host institution for a series of large-scale technology competitions, including the 34th Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad, the first Vietnam Student Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, Procon Vietnam, and ICPC Asia HCMC 2025. Held consecutively over five days, the events brought together more than 1,000 students, over 200 coaches, and teams from 87 Vietnamese universities, colleges, and academies, as well as 11 international institutions from six countries, with more than 250 competing teams.
