HUTECH enhances Korean language learning experience with international standard “K-VOICE” Interpretation and Translation Lab

On May 7, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held the handover ceremony for the Korean Interpretation and Translation Lab “K-VOICE,” expanding learning and practical training opportunities for students in language studies and interpretation and translation.
The Korean Interpretation and Translation Lab “K-VOICE” was sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with a total investment of more than VND 450 million. The facility includes a specialized listening, speaking, and interpretation practice lab with 32 learning stations for students, integrated with the GREELAN 3110B system to support various hands-on training activities. This is the first high tech language learning model introduced at the Faculty of Korean Studies.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Won Jiyoung, Deputy Country Director of the KOICA Vietnam Office, expressed her enthusiasm: “I believe the Korean Interpretation and Translation Lab ‘K-VOICE’ is more than simply a language classroom. It will serve as a practical bridge that promotes exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea. Through this system, students will have the opportunity to study in a modern learning environment, develop interpretation and translation skills aligned with professional standards, and improve both their Korean language proficiency and international communication skills.”

A standout feature of “K-VOICE” is its ability to simulate real world learning and working environments for language students. The system enables lecturers to broadcast standardized audio throughout the classroom, supporting listening practice with consistent sound quality and minimal interference. At the same time, students can participate in two-way conversations with lecturers or practice in pairs and groups to improve communication reflexes and receive immediate pronunciation corrections during class.
In addition, the system integrates recording and speech evaluation functions, allowing students to monitor their speaking progress over time. Features such as automatic group division, individual speech presentations, and direct testing and grading further enhance classroom interaction and enable lecturers to closely monitor each student’s abilities.
The “K-VOICE” lab, equipped with specialized systems, gives students opportunities to experience workflows closely aligned with real professional environments
In particular, the classroom was designed to support consecutive and simultaneous interpretation practice, two core skills in the interpretation and translation profession. Through the specialized equipment system, students can experience workflows similar to real professional settings, from information processing to language reflexes during interpretation tasks. The “K-VOICE” lab is also connected to the interpretation booth room, strengthening the integration between theoretical learning and professional practice.
As part of the program, representatives from HUTECH and KOICA jointly conducted the sponsorship handover ceremony, ribbon cutting ceremony, and tour of the new classroom facility.
Delegates also directly observed a demonstration class featuring Korean listening and speaking practice, along with interpretation exercises using the modern equipment system.

The University hopes this system will support students in developing listening and speaking proficiency, interpretation and translation skills, and the confidence to adapt to international working environments, meeting the growing demand for high quality human resources amid the expanding cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of the University Board of Directors.
