HUTECH strengthens international education standards with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)

With the goal of strengthening quality assurance and enhancing education and research standards in line with international benchmarks, on May 5, the Department of International Relations and Project Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a working session with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) to discuss various future development directions.
During the meeting, representatives from QS shared an overview of the organization’s role within the global higher education system. In addition to evaluation and ranking activities, QS also supports international student recruitment, graduate employability enhancement, educational data analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence in university environments.

The two sides also discussed HUTECH’s results in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026. Representatives of HUTECH noted that the University’s current position marks a positive starting point in its international integration journey. Building on this foundation, the University is developing a long-term strategy to improve its rankings and move toward participation in the QS World University Rankings in the near future.

Alongside the goal of improving positions in international rankings, expanding networks with scholars, enterprises, and global partners to strengthen academic reputation and employer recognition was also highlighted as a priority. This is considered an important factor in improving educational quality, increasing career opportunities for students, and reinforcing the University’s educational standing within the international community.
In addition, both sides expressed interest in continuing to promote research strengths in several key disciplines such as civil engineering and data science. With a stable foundation of research and scientific publications maintained in recent years, the University is gradually strengthening its academic communication activities to increase visibility in international rankings and expand future research collaboration opportunities.
Notably, data analysis solutions based on global labor market trends were also introduced during the meeting. These tools are expected to support universities in adjusting curricula toward practical application, aligning academic content with societal needs, and enhancing graduates’ career adaptability.

Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed on several future cooperation directions, including exploring the implementation of data analysis tools, expanding international partnership networks, strengthening global academic presence, and participating in international activities and events to further enhance HUTECH’s reputation and standing in international higher education integration.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is a prestigious international university ranking organization founded in 1990 in the United Kingdom. The organization is widely recognized for its annual QS World University Rankings. QS evaluates higher education institutions based on various criteria such as academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio, research citations, and internationalization, providing an important reference source for students, universities, and employers worldwide.
As part of its journey toward international integration and educational quality enhancement, HUTECH joined the QS Stars rating system and achieved a 4-Star rating in its very first assessment in 2022 with a total score of 745. In early 2025, HUTECH successfully maintained its 4-Star rating in the second assessment cycle with a total score of 772, including multiple categories receiving 5-Star rating, such as teaching, facilities, good governance, employability, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
HUTECH has also achieved notable results across various QS rankings. In the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, the University ranked 287th in Asia and 6th in Vietnam. In addition, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, HUTECH had three academic disciplines recognized, including Hospitality and Leisure Management; Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing; and Computer Science and Information Systems.
