HUTECH strengthens international education through partnership with University of Hertfordshire

On May 5, the Department of International Relations and Project Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a working session with representatives from University of Hertfordshire to discuss cooperation directions in research, academic exchange, and the development of international academic pathways in line with global education trends.

The meeting marked the reconnection between the two institutions following earlier discussions in 2024. During the session, previously discussed topics were reviewed and updated, including a materials research proposal that had shown promising progress despite not yet securing official funding. This was considered an important foundation for both universities to continue expanding collaboration in areas of shared academic strength.

In the context of many international funding sources being affected by policy and budget changes, both institutions agreed to maintain professional exchanges while proactively preparing for long-term collaboration opportunities. Accordingly, the ISPF 2.0 program is expected to resume during the 2027 to 2028 period with substantial funding support. The two universities also aim to establish research partnership networks early in order to prepare long-term proposals and expand access to suitable international academic funding opportunities.

Regarding academic activities, Erasmus+ continues to be identified as one of the key priorities in the cooperation strategy. Through the designated contact point in the United Kingdom, professional teams from both universities are expected to connect from the initial stage to prepare student and faculty exchange proposals. This direction is expected to create more opportunities for learning, research, and international experiences for HUTECH students and faculty members.

In the area of education, HUTECH is considering the development of collaborative academic pathways with the University of Hertfordshire in disciplines such as Business Administration, Digital Marketing, Communication, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Under the proposed model, students would study at HUTECH for three years in Vietnam and complete one year in the United Kingdom under a 3+1 structure, while earning a degree awarded by University of Hertfordshire.
