As part of its ongoing commitment to educational internationalization, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) recently welcomed representatives from Ikon Institute of Australia to discuss potential collaborations in education, academic development, and workforce preparation across several high potential fields.
Representing Ikon Institute of Australia at the meeting were Ms. Lee Ushakoff, Head of Strategic Initiatives, and Mr. Chris Chuong Nguyen, Senior Advisor for Vietnam, Strategic Initiatives
The meeting created opportunities for meaningful discussions on developing flexible learning pathways, enhancing international learning experiences, and connecting students with emerging professional fields. It also marked another step in HUTECH’s efforts to expand its global partner network and provide students and postgraduate learners with greater opportunities for study, research, and international engagement.
During the session, representatives from HUTECH and Ikon Institute of Australia presented overviews of their educational models, strategic directions, and academic strengths. Building on their shared commitment to practice oriented education, both sides exchanged perspectives on current trends in higher education, the growing demand for highly skilled professionals, and the role of international partnerships in enriching the student experience.

One of the key topics of discussion was the possibility of developing study pathways for HUTECH Master's students in English Language Studies who are interested in transitioning into or broadening their expertise in Early Childhood Education. Representatives from Ikon noted that Australia is currently experiencing strong demand for early childhood educators and that the sector remains a priority area for workforce development under the Australian Government’s long term planning initiatives. Based on this shared interest, both institutions agreed to continue exploring suitable collaboration models that could create new educational and international career development opportunities for learners.
In addition, HUTECH and Ikon Institute of Australia discussed the potential for collaboration in the field of Arts Therapy. This discipline uses creative arts practices to support mental health, wellbeing, and personal development, an area that is receiving increasing attention in modern society. Both institutions expressed interest in exploring joint academic activities, including seminars, panel discussions, and professional sharing sessions involving Arts Therapy specialists from Ikon and faculty members from HUTECH.

Beyond academic and educational cooperation, the two institutions also discussed opportunities to facilitate international internships for Ikon students majoring in Early Childhood Education at Royal School, a member institution of the HUTECH Education System.
