Following a highly competitive selection process involving 1,612 applications from more than 160 countries and territories, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), was selected as one of 25 education leaders representing 25 countries to participate in the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Program 2026.
Held from June 22 to 26 at the United Nations Campus in Bonn, Germany, the program brought together education leaders, policymakers, and training management experts in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

After multiple rounds of evaluation, only 25 participants were officially selected for the program. Dr. Ly Thien Trang’s inclusion in this distinguished group reflects international recognition of her contributions to technical and vocational education while creating valuable opportunities to connect and exchange insights with education leaders from around the world.
Before attending the in-person program in Germany, Dr. Ly Thien Trang and the other 24 participants completed three weeks of online learning through a series of specialized modules organized by UNESCO-UNEVOC. This phase enabled participants to stay informed about emerging trends in vocational education while engaging with international experts and peers to exchange leadership and management experiences.

The program in Bonn focused on the theme “Leading Systems Change in TVET,” with the goal of identifying solutions to enhance training quality, strengthen adaptability, and improve the responsiveness of education systems to global challenges. Key topics addressed emerging trends shaping the future of education and the workforce, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), green transition, sustainable development, equitable access to education, and lifelong learning.

Through academic discussions, professional networking activities, and action project development, participants shared practical experiences, expanded international partnerships, and developed initiatives tailored to the needs of their respective countries. The program also provided HUTECH with an opportunity to gain insights into emerging developments in vocational education, strengthen international engagement, and advance innovation in teaching and learning.
