"Thuy Mien" variety show: A Journey of emotions from aspiration to success

Organized by students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), the “Thuy Mien” variety show took place on January 6 and brought to life the emotional journey of designer Thuy Mien, from her earliest aspirations to her shining success, through a creative fusion of music, drama, and fashion.

Under the professional guidance of Ms. Do Thi Hong Phu, Head of the Event Management Department, “Thuy Mien” was a meaningful learning project that showcased the creativity of students from both the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the Faculty of Marketing – International Business. Inspired by the real-life story of designer Thuy Mien, the students delivered a moving and heartfelt performance, portraying her journey of passion and dream-chasing across four chapters.

Each chapter of Thuy Mien’s story marked a significant milestone in her life, presented through various artistic forms. The first chapter, “Peace,” reflected her early emotions and aspirations through melodic performances. A mashup of the traditional dance “Ken Ca Chon Canh,” the lively “Cham Hoa,” and the inspirational “Dieu Phi Thuong Nho Be” painted a vivid picture of youthful dreams.
Following “Peace” was the chapter “Fate,” telling the story of life-changing relationships that shaped her path. Touching scenes about the spark of passion ignited by human connection and the dedicated mentorship she received were expressed through a poignant drama and the songs “Chua Duoc Yeu Nhu The” and “Vi Toi Con Song,” offering a heartfelt moment for the audience.

The four chapters reflected the character's key milestones in life
The third chapter, “Storms,” captured the hardships Thuy Mien faced—setbacks, mistakes, and the growth that came with forgiveness and self-reflection. Songs such as “Hoa No Khong Mau,” “Khi Em Lon,” and “Da Hon Mot Lan” expressed the emotional turbulence, with “Doa Hong Choi Voi” serving as a quiet pause for introspection before her breakthrough.
The final chapter, “Glory,” marked her triumph after relentless effort. Thuy Mien's talent was finally recognized, and she emerged as a celebrated designer. This turning point was portrayed through the songs “Con Duong Toi” and “Tu Hom Nay – Doa Hoa Hong,” closing her meaningful journey with pride and hope.

The highlight of the night, and the perfect conclusion to the story, was a captivating fashion show featuring 10 original ao dai designed by Thuy Mien herself. More than just a showcase of fashion, it was a powerful statement of her talent and perseverance in pursuing her dreams.

After all the hard work and preparation, the “Thuy Mien” variety show was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. It stood as a proud achievement for HUTECH students, highlighting their creativity, talent, and passion. By organizing a professional-grade event from start to finish, the students not only demonstrated their capabilities but also sharpened essential skills to prepare them for the real-world challenges of their future careers.
