CEO Nguyen Quoc Ky shares how he pursued his dreams with HUTECH students

On June 6, students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) had the opportunity to meet and learn from Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman and CEO of Vietravel Corporation, through the CEO Talkshow titled “Pioneering Breakthroughs – Conquering Dreams.” The event was organized by HUTECH’s Center for Corporate Relations in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Sharing his thoughts on the significance of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice President of HUTECH, stated: “HUTECH is committed to helping students engage with the business world from early on in their studies. Today’s talk is a great opportunity for them to learn directly from Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky and gain insights into what it takes to build a major brand like Vietravel.”

With nearly 30 years of experience across both the public and private sectors, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky offered valuable tips for students to connect academic knowledge with real-world practice. According to him, the key to being a pioneer is to never settle, always adapt, and continuously renew yourself. That is the only way to avoid falling behind or becoming irrelevant.

Speaking on the topic of dreams and how to achieve them, he said, “Young people have so many dreams and ambitions. Write them down, filter them according to what you can actually do, and fully commit to that first achievable goal. That first step might just be your personal breakthrough.”

He also responded to questions about entrepreneurship, branding, and career planning. When asked if marketing majors can work in tourism, he emphasized that marketing, branding, and communication are crucial to the success of any product, especially in tourism. Therefore, marketing is not separate from the field but complements it by offering tools to better promote travel experiences.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky also shared strategies for building sustainable values in the tourism industry, especially in the post-pandemic context. Vietravel has adopted a new development strategy focused on Green Tourism – Green Economy – Green Growth, with strong emphasis on AI applications in business and customer data management.

In addition to his inspiring talk, Vietravel Corporation offered several gifts to HUTECH students, including two scholarships (each covering 50% of one year’s tuition at HUTECH), 50 vouchers worth 1,000,000 VND for professional courses at Vietravel Academy, and 100 eco-friendly tote bags for participating students.
