[Video] Entering the World of Golf: A Valuable Hands-on Experience for Event Management Students

As part of the course “Professional Field Study 2 in Da Lat”, students majoring in Event Management from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), had a study visit and valuable hands-on experience at the IGC Golf Academy on June 19.

Through engaging in introductory golf activities, observing training sessions, and practicing on the course, the students not only developed skills in organizing events but also prepared themselves mentally and professionally for the upcoming “HUTECH Golf Up” event in Da Lat.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to listen to Coach Bui Ba Thien, who introduced fundamental knowledge about golf, including types of clubs, how to grip the club, selecting the appropriate ball, and basic equipment required for the game. He also guided students through standard stance techniques, balance control, and essential swing movements such as takeaway, backswing, and downswing. Notably, his live demonstrations allowed students to visualize and approach the techniques in a dynamic and intuitive way.

In addition, coaches Tran Van Trong and Nguyen Trung Kien enthusiastically guided the students through each golf technique—from proper stance and body balance to adjusting swing power appropriately. Beyond technical instruction, the coaches also conveyed their passion for golf, helping students better appreciate the harmonious blend of physical movement, sportsmanship, and the artistic elegance that defines the sport.

After the theory session, students moved on to practical training on the course, where they had the opportunity to hold the clubs, position the balls, and try out their own swings under close supervision from the coaches. From listening to physically performing each movement, the experience offered more than just knowledge—it gave students the feeling of truly “becoming” active participants, fully embodying the hands-on, experiential learning spirit of the Event Management program.

Hands-on practice on the golf course provided students with valuable, real-world experience in this sport

Through this field study, Event Management students not only explored a new sport but also developed their mindset for event design—focusing on personalized experiences and real-world applicability. This served as valuable preparation for the upcoming “HUTECH Golf Up” event, which will be organized by the students themselves.
