HUTECH and Thanh Niên Readers Grant Over VND 1 Billion in Scholarships to New Students in Need

The “Willpower in Exam Season” Scholarship is part of the “Exam Season Support” Program, jointly organized by the Vietnam National Union of Students, the Ministry of Education and Training, Thanh Niên Newspaper, and Thiên Long Group. The program calls on readers and sponsors to join hands in supporting students in difficult circumstances—such as those who are orphaned, disabled, or from underprivileged backgrounds—helping them overcome adversity and pursue their dreams of entering university.

Hồ Huỳnh Nhi, a newly admitted student at HUTECH, has long cherished the dream of attending university despite facing extremely difficult circumstances: homeless, having lost her father, and abandoned by her mother. She was taken in and cared for by her elderly grandparents, whose own living conditions were extremely poor—struggling with daily food, aging health, and illness due to the lack of access to treatment.

Her story was shared in the Thanh Niên Newspaper article titled “Willpower in Exam Season: Please help this homeless girl who lost her father and was abandoned by her mother” by journalist Nữ Vương, through which many compassionate readers learned about her situation and stepped in to offer support.

At the event, HUTECH awarded Hồ Huỳnh Nhi a full-tuition scholarship for the entire duration of her undergraduate studies, along with a monthly living allowance of VND 2 million throughout her four-year program, totaling VND 300 million. In addition, Nhi received VND 1,471,402,094 in donations from readers of Thanh Niên Newspaper. Remarkably, after receiving the scholarship, Huỳnh Nhi decided to share VND 100 million to support children who lost their parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic, through the “Walking Life with You” initiative by Thanh Niên Newspaper.

On behalf of the HUTECH Board of Presidents, Dr. Huỳnh Ngọc Anh – Vice President of the University – shared that in addition to providing a full-tuition scholarship and monthly living allowance, HUTECH will also support Huỳnh Nhi in participating in academic and extracurricular activities to help her develop both knowledge and skills. He added that the university will also assist her in finding part-time job opportunities, should she wish to seek employment during her studies. Furthermore, he emphasized that HUTECH offers a variety of scholarship programs every admission season, including the “Proud to Be a Student” Scholarship, the Talent Scholarship, the Support Scholarship, and Enterprise Scholarships, with the goal of accompanying and supporting students throughout their academic journey and in realizing their dreams.

The story of freshman Hồ Huỳnh Nhi is not only a lesson in resilience and perseverance, but also a powerful source of inspiration for generations of HUTECH students. With the heartfelt support from the university and the generous readers of Thanh Niên Newspaper, we believe Nhi will not only thrive in her academic journey but also grow into a responsible individual who contributes to building a better society. Wishing Nhi great success in her studies and in all that lies ahead!
