On February 28, the Human Resources Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), in collaboration with Altair Engineering, organized the forum “HUTECH - Altair Data Science Day 2025.” The event aimed to support faculty members in staying up to date with emerging trends and enhancing their ability to apply technology and data in research and teaching, while also fostering collaboration within the data science community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong expressed hope that faculty members would gain valuable

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong – Vice President of HUTECH – expressed his hope that the program would provide useful knowledge to help lecturers enhance their research and teaching capabilities, as well as support students in their academic and career development. He also expressed his expectation that this would be an opportunity for HUTECH faculty to further unlock their potential in the field of data science.
Opening the seminar, Mr. Lim Seng Tat – Regional Sales Director for Southeast Asia at Altair Engineering – shared his perspectives on education in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). According to him, education plays a vital role in shaping students into future leaders capable of modernizing industries. To achieve this, academic institutions must integrate advanced teaching methods and cutting-edge technologies to prepare students for the demands of an AI-driven world.

He also introduced Altair’s technology solutions designed for universities, including AI platforms, cloud computing, digital simulation, and modern enterprise software. These technologies not only optimize teaching processes but also foster research and open up opportunities for innovation in education. In addition, he shared several case studies of university projects that leverage engineering simulation platforms to enhance education and research.
Following that, Dr. Clinton Chee – Data Analytics Solutions Specialist at Altair Engineering – introduced Altair RapidMiner, an integrated data platform that enables businesses to modernize, automate, and implement AI. He also delved into the convergence of Data Fabric and AI Platforms, contributing to the creation of a robust AI Fabric that streamlines processes and accelerates AI adoption across organizations.

In his presentation, Dr. Clinton Chee also introduced AutoML technology, which enables organizations to apply AI without requiring programming knowledge. He emphasized that artificial intelligence has now become an essential component across all fields, opening up vast opportunities for AI development and adoption in businesses—without the need for complex coding skills.
Mr. Le Thanh Tuan – Director of PCB GraphTech Vietnam – shared solutions that enable businesses to leverage data for strategic decision-making. He emphasized that technology empowers non-technical executives through the Altair RapidMiner platform, promoting digital transformation with AI across all industries.

In addition, Mr. Le Thanh Tuan introduced the Frictionless AI platform, which allows lecturers to easily access and apply technology. He demonstrated use cases such as warranty claim analysis and automation, showing how the platform can be effectively integrated into teaching. He also expressed his commitment to supporting faculty by providing instructional materials, aiming to enhance teaching quality and foster faculty development at universities.
