HUTECH welcomes Southern Leyte State University students for international academic and cultural exchange week

Students from the Faculty of Marketing and International Business at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and students from Southern Leyte State University officially kicked off their international exchange week through the Opening Ceremony of “The Academic Exchange and Cultural Immersion Program: HUTECH - Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)” held on May 11.
HUTECH and SLSU students officially launched a week of academic exchange and international cultural experiences
The opening ceremony became even more vibrant and engaging through a series of interactive activities between HUTECH and SLSU students. Beginning with self introductions in English, participants quickly broke the ice by sharing interesting stories about their names, majors, hobbies, and first impressions of the program. In particular, the activity of choosing “three keywords” to describe themselves created many joyful moments, allowing students from both universities to better understand each other’s personalities, energy, and unique characteristics.

Students enthusiastically connected and interacted through English self introduction activities
In addition, students learned basic conversational phrases in both Vietnamese and Filipino, bringing plenty of laughter through pronunciation practice, memorization, and real time interaction. Cultural and musical exchange performances further energized the atmosphere, helping students from both universities grow closer through music, confidence, and open-mindedness. These activities contributed to creating a youthful and dynamic international environment on the very first day while laying a strong foundation for upcoming learning experiences and cultural exchange activities.

Expressing expectations that the program would further strengthen the partnership between HUTECH and SLSU, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, shared: “Through academic and cultural exchange activities, I hope students from both universities will have opportunities to gain new knowledge, strengthen their international communication skills, broaden their multicultural perspectives, and build meaningful connections. These experiences will also serve as important preparation for them to become more confident in global learning and working environments.”

The program series contributes to expanding international perspectives, enhancing communication skills, and helping students confidently connect in multicultural environments
Taking place from May 11 to May 18, the program will offer students from both universities a diverse range of academic and experiential activities, including workshops and specialized sessions on marketing trends, digital marketing, and business practices within the ASEAN region. Students will also have opportunities to participate in the entrepreneurship competition “STARTUP ARENA: SLSU x HUTECH,” the talent showcase “Boundless Beats,” along with various cultural and historical exchange activities. Through these experiences, the program aims to broaden students’ global perspectives, strengthen communication skills, and build confidence in multicultural environments.
