Lively J-Pop performances and conversations with young Japanese artists offered students of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) memorable experiences during the Japanese Cultural and Arts Exchange Program held on the afternoon of July 29.
 

 
The program was jointly organized by VJIT and the Japan Asia Medical, Welfare and Education Institute (JAMWEI), with the aim of strengthening connections between students from the two countries while broadening their perspectives on Japanese life, arts and people.

The atmosphere quickly became lively with the appearance of three members of the idol group wqwq from Sun Music Group, a well-established entertainment and artist management company in Japan. Their energetic J-Pop performances brought excitement to the stage and offered a glimpse into the youthful side of Japanese popular culture.

Beyond their performances, the three artists shared insights into their training, work schedules and everyday lives behind the scenes. Their candid stories offered students a closer look at Japan’s entertainment industry, where artists are expected to maintain rigorous training routines, follow demanding schedules and continuously develop their skills.
 
The exchange session continued to draw enthusiastic participation as many students confidently asked questions in both Japanese and English. Discussions covered language learning methods, career aspirations, lifestyles and leisure activities in Japan. By engaging directly with the artists, VJIT students demonstrated their language skills, confidence and enthusiasm for cross-cultural connection, creating an open and engaging exchange rich in meaningful experiences.

Mr. Yoshino Masayoshi, Director of JAMWEI, shared: “JAMWEI hopes to continue working alongside HUTECH in educational and cultural exchange programs. Face-to-face activities such as today’s event can strengthen connections between the younger generations of Vietnam and Japan, while creating more opportunities for them to explore the life, arts and people of each country.”

Notably, JAMWEI presented a scholarship fund worth VND 50 million to VJIT students. The scholarships are intended for nine incoming students who achieved the highest entrance results in VJIT’s nine academic programs, as well as third-year and fourth-year students with strong academic performance and aspirations to pursue careers in Japan. The scholarships recognize students’ academic efforts while reflecting JAMWEI’s commitment to supporting the development of graduates equipped with professional expertise, Japanese language proficiency and cultural understanding.

Highlighting the value of the partnership, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, emphasized: “JAMWEI’s continued support has expanded opportunities for VJIT students to study, undertake internships, experience Japanese culture and gain exposure to Japan’s professional environment. HUTECH hopes that the two institutions will continue developing practical programs that provide students with a strong foundation to enhance their capabilities, confidently engage in an international environment and proactively pursue their chosen career paths.”
