HUTECH explores collaboration in healthcare workforce education with the Japan Asia Medical Welfare Education Institute (JAMWEI)

On June 22, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed representatives from the Japan Asia Medical Welfare Education Institute (JAMWEI) for a working session to discuss future directions for collaboration in healthcare education.

The JAMWEI delegation included Dr. Yoshino Masayoshi, President of the Japan Asia Medical Welfare Education Institute (JAMWEI); Prof. Koji Ono, Director of the Comprehensive Research Institute at Tokyo Healthcare University, Japan; Prof. Yuriko Matsumura, Dean of the Graduate School of Infection Control at Tokyo Healthcare University, Japan; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thanh, Member of the Medical Legal Advisory Board in Vietnam; Mr. Pham Xuan Hong, Advisor for International Education Cooperation Program Coordination; and Ms. Tran Thi My Ai, Secretary General of JAMWEI in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hiep, MD, PhD, Meritorious Physician, Principal of the HUTECH School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Dr. Yoshino Masayoshi shared insights into the strengths and strategic development directions of their respective institutions.

In addition to undergraduate education, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and JAMWEI discussed opportunities to strengthen academic collaboration among faculty members, researchers, and students. Nursing, infection control, elderly care, and rehabilitation were identified as promising fields for expanding joint research in the coming years.

The institutions discuss opportunities for collaboration in healthcare education and research
 
At the postgraduate level, both sides explored opportunities for HUTECH faculty members and researchers to pursue master's and doctoral studies in Japan. They also discussed establishing a joint research group involving HUTECH, JAMWEI, and Tokyo Healthcare University to support international publications, strengthen research capacity, and promote deeper integration into the global academic community.

Building on the ideas exchanged during the meeting, HUTECH, JAMWEI, and Tokyo Healthcare University look forward to expanding their collaborative network with universities, hospitals, and research institutes across Japan. This partnership provides a strong foundation for gradually developing an international healthcare workforce education model that supports the evolving needs of Vietnam, Japan, and the ASEAN region.
