The event was especially honored to welcome Mr. Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. Having accompanied various events hosted by VJIT and HUTECH, Mr. Ono highly praised the Institute’s role in training outstanding human resources and acting as a bridge between Vietnam and Japan over the past decade. “I hope that VJIT will continue to make even greater strides and become a key contributor to the development of both Vietnam and Japan,” said Mr. Ono.
The ceremony saw many emotional and memorable moments
The ceremony was filled with touching moments, from the screening of the documentary “VJIT – 10 Years of Creating Value”, to the tribute ceremony honoring individuals and organizations with significant contributions, and the impressive opening performance featuring a fusion of traditional Vietnamese and Japanese instruments. Other highlights included Kyudo and Kendo demonstrations by expert Nuinoi Mika (6th-dan Renshi) and the Ho Chi Minh City Martial Arts Federation. A solemn Kagami Biraki ceremony, the traditional sake barrel opening ritual, was also held as a symbol of new beginnings, officially launching the VJIT Matsuri 2025 Japanese Cultural Festival.
VJIT Matsuri 2025: A cultural gateway to the Land of the Rising Sun
Held alongside the anniversary celebration, VJIT Matsuri 2025 was not only a cultural highlight of the 10th-anniversary celebration series but also an opportunity for students and visitors to immerse themselves in unique and vibrant Vietnamese-Japanese cultural experiences.
Japanese-themed booths and cultural activities drew enthusiastic participation
The university campus came alive with cultural booths and interactive experiences such as making onigiri rice balls, exploring the art of Japanese tea ceremony, a tote bag painting contest, a “mottainai”-inspired battery-for-tree exchange station, Japanese food stalls, ceramic exhibitions, Doraemon film screenings, and displays of traditional Japanese clothing.
The cultural show added excitement and energy to the festival atmosphere
The centerpiece of the festival was the art performance program “Vietnam-Japan Cultural Harmony”, which featured traditional music and dance, yosakoi performances, and dynamic cosplay showcases. All of these came together to form an open-stage celebration where students could directly engage with and live through the culture.
“Today’s festival gave us a hands-on way to explore and understand Japanese culture,” said Huynh My Nghi, a first-year Marketing student at VJIT. “I think I can become a better version of myself by learning about Japanese culture, especially their strong sense of discipline.”
My Nghi shared that the festival helped her understand Japanese culture in a more vivid way
Ten years after its establishment, VJIT has become an ideal destination for young people passionate about Japan. With a modern training model and close connections with Japanese companies both in Vietnam and abroad, the Institute continues to affirm its role as a bridge for education, culture, and high-quality human resources between the two countries. The 10th Anniversary Celebration and VJIT Matsuri 2025 were not only a moment to reflect on the journey so far but also a declaration of future aspirations, continuing to inspire integration and ambition in the younger generation.
