International courses, paid internships, student and faculty exchanges, and the SEED Scholarship were among the key topics discussed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), Canada, during a meeting on June 25. The discussions focused on turning these initiatives into concrete collaborative programs in the near future.
Building on previous online discussions, the meeting between HUTECH and NSCC explored practical areas of collaboration in academic programs, academic exchange, and international career opportunities for students.
HUTECH welcomed a delegation from Nova Scotia Community College, Canada, on June 25
In the area of academic programs, both institutions discussed opportunities for HUTECH students to participate in study programs at NSCC in disciplines such as Information Technology and Engineering. These programs combine specialized coursework with paid internships, connecting academic learning with an international workplace while helping students develop professional skills and gain practical experience before graduation.
Student and faculty exchanges, along with short-term programs, were also key areas of interest for both institutions. These flexible forms of collaboration would bring together students and faculty from both universities through academic exchange, while providing opportunities to experience different teaching approaches, learning environments, and global professional perspectives.
Representatives from both institutions discussed collaborative initiatives in education and workforce development
Another promising area of cooperation is the potential development and delivery of selected NSCC courses at HUTECH in accordance with the partner institution's quality assurance standards. Canadian course content, teaching methods, and assessment practices could be integrated into HUTECH's academic environment, further supporting the internationalization of its curriculum.
In the field of education, the two institutions also discussed opportunities for NSCC students majoring in Early Childhood Education to complete internships at Royal School, a member of the HUTECH Education System. This initiative would allow Canadian students to gain firsthand teaching experience in Vietnam while participating in professional exchanges with relevant educational institutions.
HUTECH and NSCC also explored the possibility of jointly implementing the Canada ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development, or SEED, Scholarship, funded by the Government of Canada. The program aims to promote academic exchange, support student participation in international educational activities, and strengthen educational ties between Vietnam and Canada.
The discussions focused on international courses, internship opportunities, and scholarship programs in Canada
The initiatives discussed during the meeting will continue to be reviewed, refined, and incorporated into a Memorandum of Understanding that both institutions plan to sign in the near future. The agreement will serve as the foundation for future collaboration in academic programs, academic exchange, and international internships between HUTECH and NSCC.
