On June 30, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed representatives from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore for a working session that opened up new opportunities for collaboration in student exchange, engineering internships, and the development of short-term academic programs.
HUTECH and Ngee Ann Polytechnic discuss collaboration in education and student exchange
During the meeting, both institutions introduced their educational models, internationalization strategies, and current student exchange initiatives. HUTECH representatives shared information about the University's short-term and long-term international mobility opportunities, including study visits, semester exchange, international internships, and research internships.
Among these initiatives, the annual Learning Express program with Singapore Polytechnic was highlighted as a successful example of HUTECH's collaboration with a Singaporean partner.
Building on these existing initiatives, the two institutions held in depth discussions on developing short-term exchange programs for students from both HUTECH and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The proposed programs would combine academic learning, cultural exchange, company visits, and firsthand experiences of each country's educational environment. Activities could be tailored to specific academic disciplines, offered in flexible formats, and designed to meet the practical needs of students from both institutions.
Representatives discuss short-term academic programs for students
A key topic of discussion was the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into future exchange programs. This approach aligns with current educational trends by giving students opportunities to engage with real world issues related to the environment, communities, socioeconomic development, and professional responsibility through interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Engineering internship opportunities at Ngee Ann Polytechnic receive strong interest
In addition to short-term exchange programs, the two institutions discussed internship opportunities for HUTECH students in engineering fields at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening applied education, professional practice, and international learning experiences while building on the Singapore institution's strengths in engineering education.
Both institutions aim to develop more short-term collaborative programs based on practical needs
Beyond these initiatives, HUTECH and Ngee Ann Polytechnic also explored the possibility of creating additional short-term programs tailored to the needs of both institutions. The proposed areas of cooperation will continue to be discussed, reviewed, and refined to align with each institution's academic strengths, implementation capacity, and internationalization goals.
